Ryan Reynolds gets on our nerves a bit in his films with his always the same style, but the charismatic Canadian understands publicity like no other. Not only did he recently announce Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine in “Deadpool 3” in a humorous video, but the fun continued just a day later.
Reynolds sat down in front of the camera with Jackman to reveal more about the upcoming Marvel production to curious fans. Reynolds and Jackman put their hearts into it and told the whole story with full physical exertion – but unfortunately their words were overshadowed by the song “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham! drowned out.
Luckily, there’s a lip reader who watched the video closely and revealed what was revealed (or not revealed) about Deadpool 3!
The lord of the (eye) rings
The work week is currently framed by two fantasy worlds for the Netzwelt entertainment team. Monday always starts with the latest episode of “House of the Dragon”, Friday is “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on the program. Here you can’t avoid watching the series in the early morning and so you experience the fiery dragon breath or the magnificent buildings of Númenor with fascinated, but also quite sleepy eyes.
In today’s episode of “Rings of Power” things really got going again, because… – wait, of course we don’t want to give any spoilers! Watch the new episode, then come back to explore the latest Easter Eggs with us, reflect on the episode’s ending, and why some extras appear multiple times in the background.
Time Flies Like an Arrow; Fruit Flies Like a Banana
While “The Rings of Power” tells a fairly straight-forward story that annoys hardcore Tolkien fans with deviations from the templates, “House of the Dragon” is causing heartache among audiences with its recently released 6th episode.
Adapting George RR Martin’s Targaryen chronicle Fire and Blood, the Game of Thrones spin-off has the difficult task of covering several decades at once. Thus, at the beginning of most of the previous episodes, time jumps were expected in order to let the storyline reach the “Dance of the Dragons” in time for the season finale, i.e. the war within the Targaryen clan.
Now Episode 6 turned particularly hard on the clock, the story jumped 10 years into the future, which is why the two previous leading actresses were recast and only recently introduced characters died again.
This is too fast for many fans, because it feels like you’re just racing through a history lesson and rattling off all the important events. The tension falls a little by the wayside, but the whole event is still entertaining. We have summarized for you which allusions to past and future events were hidden in the previous episodes and what the book template tells us about the next seasons.
monkey dawn
Do you remember the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy that hit theaters a few years ago? Entertaining, exciting and reasonably realistic, they told of a world in which monkeys are getting smarter and rebelling against humanity, which is meanwhile slowly disappearing from earth due to a new disease.
In Germany, however, the films were overshadowed by their annoying titles. This is how “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” became with us “Planet of the Apes: Prevolution”, so you just invented a new word. With “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” they stayed true to this line and called the second part of the series “Planet of the Apes: Revolution”.
Then came the end of the trilogy, “War for the Planet of the Apes”. Here one would think that the previous films only allow one title, namely “Planet of the Apes: Evolution”, but no! Instead, in this country “Planet of the Apes: Survival” out of it! A shame!
But now we come to the actual topic: “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”. In 2024 we can expect a new film from the “Monkey” series, with “The Witcher” star Freya Allan taking on the leading role. We’re excited, but we’re already afraid of the German title. “Planet of the Apes: Re4lution” maybe or “Planet of the Apes: Affenplanet”?
More top stories of the week
Of course, a lot has happened this week outside of the entertainment area. Among other things, “FIFA 23” was released today, the last game in the popular football series that Darius has already tested for you. In addition, Amazon presented some exciting innovations at an event and Marinus made the living room walls shake with the Sonos Sub Mini. You can find that and more in our top stories:
The flat joke of the week
It’s over again, September! Can someone wake Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong? A bad joke – but don’t worry, the real flat joke is yet to come and is even worse. The dawn of October heralds the Halloween season, of course, and Disney+ is already celebrating with “Hocus Pocus 2”.
Also a bit creepy: Bruce Willis has just retired, so the actor already wants to return – as a digital deepfake version. The company Deepcake bought the rights to Willis’ appearance, so nothing stands in the way of “Die Hard 6”. Yippie-ya-yay, pixel cheek!
Why do Legolas and Gimli get along so well?
They have the same hobbits!
There are even more flat jokes at this point on Netzwelt.
A lot of effort goes into this. We look forward to a recommendation!
