If you’ve been feeling a bit frustrated with the state of Hellraiser 2 and are looking for a reason to rejoin the galactic war – well, Arrowhead has you covered. The latest major order will reward a new mech if completed, and the studio has been soliciting community proposals for new strategies.
In case you missed it, Arrowhead’s Johan Pilestedt recently stepped down from his CEO role in order to focus more on helping oversee the development of Helldivers 2. While the wide-ranging effects of this move may take some time to materialize, that hasn’t stopped the developer from getting off to a fast start – and he’s already asked the community for some strategic ideas they’d like to see.

Before we get into that, though, let’s take a look at the latest major order. The mission is to liberate a planet – Varylia 5 – and as of this writing, players have completed about 30% of the mission. The reward will be a “Dual Autocannon EXO-49 Emancipator Exo-Armor”, which can be produced if the automaton “Petafactory” on the planet can be secured for the Super Earth.
Considering it’s only one world and there’s a little over four days left in the Order, I imagine the Automata are going to put up a pretty stiff fight to hold onto Varylia, but we’ve seen what gaming communities are capable of, especially when something people really care about is at stake.

Meanwhile, Pilestedt has been busy asking players on Twitter what they’d like to see in Eagle Tactics. Most responses have focused on some form of air support or bombs, with the developer casually sharing a picture of the correct model of the Super Earth Bomber, a downed version of which players can currently sometimes find as a POI in the game, as a response to one of them.
On the other hand, one player wrote, “I don’t know if it has to be Hawk Strike, but something that can hold off enemy reinforcements for a minute or two would be very useful strategically.” Pilestedt seemed to think it was cool, saying it could be “like a jammer beacon – similar to the ones that robots have.” He also liked someone’s pitch that involved a helldiver casually riding a bomb like Major King Kong in Dr. Strangelove.
Before you get too excited, the developer ends the post by saying that we’ll just have to see if these strategic ideas are actually adopted, but he also tells everyone to keep working on it. Be sure to stay tuned for more news on Hellraiser 2 as the Second Galactic War rages on.
