Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has just published a blog post to update everyone on the studio’s current 60-day plan. The good news is that the game’s next major update is coming on September 17th.
If you’re not in the know, a lot of players weren’t happy with the “Free Upgrade” update that came with some balance changes and tweaks to the flamethrower, arguing that Arrowhead didn’t make the game fit their definition of fun by nerfing the meta-weapons, so the studio has been trying to bring a lot of unhappy soldiers back to our side.

As detailed in a blog post, the game’s next big update (one that Arrowhead chief business officer Johan Pilestedt and others have been hinting at in the past) now has a concrete release date – September 17. So mark your calendars.
What will it include? Well, a bunch of “significant changes designed to refine and improve the Hellraiser 2 experience,” some of which Arrowhead has outlined here. Here are some of the things the studio listed in its post:
- “We are reworking armor penetration, anti-tank weapons, and enemy armor and health. As a key part of this redesign, we have done an initial balancing of over 30 weapons and strategies.”
- “We’re overhauling many of the different enemies to make them more rewarding to kill with the proper tools, but to ensure they remain intimidating. Enemy robots (including the Hulk) will have their armor reduced, while enemies like the Destroyer and Gunship will have their rockets fired limited to make combat more balanced. Particularly tough bug-like enemies like the Charger, Impaler, and Bile Titan will also have their armor values reduced.”
- “Weapons such as the autocannon, heavy machine guns, and anti-material rifles will be more effective, providing greater equipment diversity. We are also working on further improving the flamethrower weapon.”
- “We took this opportunity to consider new player fantasies and design goals for these weapons and strategies based on the feedback we received and trends we observed during gameplay.”
That’s all. Arrowhead also provided some general updates on its development progress, writing, “It’s been a few weeks since we committed to our 60-day plan, and our team has been hard at work polishing the experience, addressing your concerns through deep reviews and tweaks to a variety of systems, from weapon balance and enemy behavior to overall game mechanics. We are fully committed to ensuring Hellraiser 2 lives up to the high standards we all expect. We saw the Steam reviews, and we heard you loud and clear.”
“We value your feedback and are always looking for ways to increase community engagement,” the studio added. “Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks as we work together to make Hellstalkers 2 the best it can be. We’ll be back in September [17] Provide more details.”
