Yes, there’s already another Helldivers 2 Major Order, because, in case you missed it, the last one was blown away faster than you can say “Oh my god, I can’t wait to stomp some bugs.” Thankfully, this new version should take a little longer, and even give some of the community’s armchair generals a chance to see if they actually understand combat strategy.
Regardless, this looks like an interesting test for the forces that will be acquiring an interstellar battle station in the near future, and presumably engaging in more interstellar combat with it.

“In a far shorter time than Super Earth High Command had anticipated, the galaxy’s Fascist Bug population was reduced by one hundred million following the explosive force,” the latest order reads. “Never underestimate the insecticidal capabilities of the Hellstalkers and their expanding arsenal! This controlled application of duress to the Terminid threat has already yielded some exciting discoveries, such as the fact that when Terminids are harvested under extreme duress, they produce higher quality E-710.”
“Now, Super Earth High Command directs the Helldivers to return to the Western Front, as a strategic opportunity of galactic proportions has emerged,” it continued, “The Automata have opened an opportunity to split their forces in two, which will throw their severed forces into disarray and weaken their defenses on the severed planet in a short period of time. The Helldivers are ordered to cut a line in the Andromeda sector, join our X-45 forces, and split the Automata in two.”
It’s that last bit about cutting off the middle ground of the bot army that makes every wannabe General Brasch on Reddit and Discord shudder. You see, this is a strategy that many amateur tacticians have come up with in previous commands, and it’s caused some disagreement.
Without getting too deep into the kind of chatter that has long existed in forums for games like Command & Conquer and Hearts of Iron, the dilemma is this: It might be better to try to split a larger force into two smaller ones, but putting one in the middle would risk fighting on two fronts and potentially getting surrounded, which is obviously not ideal.
Even if you haven’t read 20,000 books about General Patton, you can tell this is a controversial issue because World War II and Alexander the Great are mentioned in the comments to that article. So, we’ll just have to see how this plays out.
