Oh my god, it’s happened again. The war between cheaters and Call of Duty anti-cheat software has begun again. This time, the battle revolves around the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta, where early testing of Activision Blizzard’s own Ricochet anti-cheat software is underway and trying to eliminate cheaters wherever possible.
However, as is often the case with such things, cheaters are working hard to find ways around such measures. There have been videos showing cheaters using cheats in beta matches, but currently, reporting a suspicious player will result in a swift ban.

For those who don’t know, there will be a back and forth between cheater dominance and mass ban waves. Cheaters tend to run rampant during periods where the Ricochet anti-cheat team is collecting data, logging cheating accounts, and updating software to combat current workarounds. This leads to mass ban waves that result in the vast majority of cheaters being banned, while cheat developers work to find new workarounds and the game is relatively enjoyable to play. This is the cycle of CoD’s life, and it keeps us all moving.
Right now, the beta is relatively cheat-free, but you can expect that to change over time. Thankfully, since the beta is a short run, it shouldn’t be too bad. When the game is officially released, expect this cycle to start in a big way. The Ricochet team posted an update saying that adjustments and tweaks are currently being made to anti-cheat, which is great news for the health of the game for the foreseeable future.
Call of Duty: Vanguard suffered the same fate with cheats, as did Modern Warfare II. That’s just the way the game works! So enjoy it while the cheaters are at a disadvantage, and pray that Team Ricochet stays strong in the coming months.
