After months of radio silence, Battlefield 2042 Developer DICE has officially returned to share some of its games’ near-term plans with the player base.
In a series of tweets and blog posts, the developer of the struggling multiplayer shooter announced that the first patch of the new year will be rele ased on all platforms tomorrow, January 20.The update will go live without any downtime, at 12AM PT, 3AM ET, 8AM UK
It does have several key fixes worth highlighting. First, infantry will no longer be slowed when receiving weapon fire from vehicles or explosives in general. The patch also fixes some hit detection fixes for Sundance (after landing with a wingsuit), as well as hit detection for vehicle weapons.

general
- Fixed an issue where leaving a party during matchmaking could cause the game to become unresponsive.
- Fixed not being able to connect to EA servers after the first attempt to sign up for a new account.
- Updated the behavior of the exit button during gameplay so it now returns you to the correct screen.
- Fixed an issue where loading music would stop playing during level loading.
Soldier
- Fixed a rare situation where hits would not always be recorded in certain parts of Sundance’s hit box after landing with a Wingsuit.
- Fixed an issue with rubber bands appearing when running behind friendly players.
- Fixed a rare issue that could cause you to get stuck in a loop both alive and down at the same time.
- Fixed various issues with connecting to ladders that could cause you to get stuck in a state where you could fly away or lose control of your specialist.
- Fixed nearby explosions that created craters affecting Soldier movement speed.
- Fixed camera shake and landing audio being unintentionally triggered when falling from very small heights.
- Fixed an issue where weapons in loadboxes would sometimes inherit ammo from a previously selected weapon.
- Fixed an issue where being spotted while firing a weapon would find you for too long.
stability
- Added several fixes to improve overall game stability.
- Fixed a rendering-related crash that could occur for AMD Radeon 7 users when Sundance is visible on screen.
arms
- Sniper and SOFLAM scopes can now be displayed from greater distances.
vehicle
- Fixed an issue where passenger weapons would no longer sync when the driver’s turret was rotated, causing bullets to not register when firing at enemies.

- Increased effective range and reduced spread on the Canister Weapon Pod.
- Reduced bullet spread from 1.6 -> 1.1.
- Damage falloff distance increased from 35 -> 40.
Web portals
- The Server Info tab now still exists after hitting Refresh in the Portal Server Browser.
- Fixed overlapping text when joining a team deathmatch game at the end of a turn.
- Rules Editor – The “IsInventorySlotActive” value now correctly handles melee weapons.
- Certain administrative commands can no longer be spammed.
danger zone
- Fixed an issue where a black rectangle would appear on the screen at the end of the Danger Zone round when hitting exit on the level progress screen.
