Game News Here’s everything you need to know about COD Black Ops 6. We played it during the Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles.
While the reveal of the next Black Ops is already available, our journalists were able to get their hands on the latest opus in the Call of Duty series. It could well be that the license is coming back more dynamic than ever. Whether you’re a veteran or a newbie, there’s sure to be something for everyone in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Welcome additions
If you found the Call of Duty franchise redundant, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 should breathe new life into Activision Blizzard’s license. The Treyarch studio development teams responsible for the project have doubled their efforts to achieve this. And it starts with a new movement system called “Omnimovement”. Behind this somewhat special term lies a complete overhaul of the movement and animation system.
Treyarch and Raven Software have also collaborated to produce a story that seems faithful to its predecessors (from the Black Ops series). Famous historical figures such as Saddam Hussein or Margaret Thatcher will appear in this campaign. The campaign takes place in the early 90s, you will be immersed in the middle of the Gulf War and sail between different locations such as Kuwait or Iraq.
Every Call of Duty player has a favorite mission. When we set out to make Black Ops 6, we wanted to make missions so incredible that they would be ingrained in the memory. We’re bringing back the feel of a blockbuster action movie at every stage of the story. Jon Zuk – Associate Creative Director at Raven Software.
Finally, the return of Zombie mode has actually been confirmed by the developers. 2 maps will be available when the game is released and at the moment little has been revealed to us about this mode. However, more information is expected to be provided in the coming months. The same goes for Warzone.
From developers to small onions
We assume that since Modern Warfare (2019) and the introduction of a new graphics engine (IW 8.0) to the franchise, each studio has been able to refine their own development tools to achieve a level of realism never seen before in Call of Duty. This is exactly what happened at Treyarch. The visual fidelity is improved many times over thanks to the photogrammetry of the equipment and characters that will be present in the game. Small details such as the operator’s dirtiness or facial expressions are highlighted more than in previous episodes.
Our team can’t wait to show you the beautiful characters we created. Thanks to photogrammetry, the equipment was captured, digitized and integrated into each of our agents. For our faces, a dynamic and direct analysis of spontaneous performances was conducted and produced to bring the emotional moments close to real life. (…) There is dirt under their nails, oil on their sweaty palms from walking everywhere. Sunni Han – Associate Art Director at Treyarch Studios
While the previous game (Modern Warfare 3) added the weapons of its little brother Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 does not include the weapons and operators from previous parts. It will feature a whole new weaponry with a variety of equipment. The game offers a glimpse between what could be described as “real” and “hyperreal” and is considered by the developers to be an intense action movie. The visual effects are said to be stunning and Treyarch wants the title to be as realistic as possible, from the effect of the wind on environmental elements to the weight of the characters.
See you on October 25th with the release of Black Ops 6 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series to be sure!
