The latest game from Tango Gameworks is a game called Hi-Fi Shocklaunching today on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
On PC, you can get it from Steam, Epic Games, and the Microsoft Store. It also applies to all Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass members.
Playing as would-be rock star Chai, you discover an enemy robot-augmented group that uses rhythm to amplify combat. Everything from the action in the environment to the combat is synced to the music.
The premise of the game is that the evil corporation has implanted a music player in Chai’s heart. Flagged as a “defect,” hordes of corporate drones are now recalling him. However, he has the ability to feel the beat of the world around him, which he will use to stop the robotic monoliths from their nefarious plans to use their rhythmically enhanced combat skills.
Everything in the game is automatically synced to the music, and since this is a rhythm action game, you need to feel the rhythm to enhance Chai’s movements. You can land a bash at the end of a combo, or sync up with an ally to tag a team enemy.
Hi-Fi Rush includes both licensed and original songs, each synced with their respective levels in the game.
If you want some “snobbery,” you can grab deluxe upgrade packs with special decorations, as well as Gears for unlocking skills and upgrades. It also comes with two outfits, seven t-shirts, a themed guitar skin, alternate skins, and 20,000 Gears (in-game earned currency) to unlock combat skills and upgrades.
