game news Hideo Kojima hates this video game and yet it’s in the Metal Gear Collection
Of course, among the announcements in the PlayStation Showcase on May 24th was the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3. At the same time as the latter, Konami also presented the famous Metal Gear Collection. The latter, to the surprise of fans, includes a game hated by the creator of the series.
Kojima won’t appreciate it…
On May 24th, during the PlayStation Showcase, Konami announced the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 and the release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. At the time we thought that it would only contain the remastered versions of the first three games in the series of the same name, but now new details have reached us, including the presence of a particularly amazing game.
In addition to the remasters of the first three official works, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is also intended to offer players the opportunity to discover the game originally released on the NES, Metal Gear: Snake’s Revenge. If you’re wondering where the problem lies, it turns out that it is Hideo Kojima, the creator of the series, hates this game in particular. It must be said that the latter was created without his involvement and was intended to act as a sequel to the first work before Kojima took the reins and developed Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.
Aside from being hated by Kojima himself (who publicly said she was “stupid” at GDC 2009), This early Metal Gear sequel is absolutely never referenced in later games and is now considered non-canon. It is therefore particularly surprising to see such a work in the Metal Gear Collection, and one might even wonder if sending Kojima a spade is not a voluntary act on the part of Konami…
A fairly generous collection
Apart from the presence of this controversial episode, The Metal Gear Collection promises to be quite generous. In fact, yesterday at the Nintendo Direct, Konami finally specified the contents of this pack, which aims to include all the games in the franchise from the first to those of the PS2 era:
In addition to these iconic games that fans are dying to find, You can also collect some bonuses by purchasing the Metal Gear Collection. For example, we think of screenplay book which contains the in-game text of each game in the series, but also at master book It should detail the entire history of Metal Gear. And if you think that’s not enough, you can find it too two graphic novels (in dematerialized version) as well as the Metal Gear Solid digital soundtrack.
If you can’t wait to get your hands on this mythical collection, you should know that it will be available on October 24th, 2023 for PC (via Steam), PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch for just under 60 dollars. Those in a hurry (or collectors) can also pre-order the game to receive the digital soundtrack with orchestral reinterpretations of the main themes.
