During an interview, Hideo Kojima spoke about his new game for Xbox. Without the support of Microsoft, the project he has been developing for years would obviously not have stood a chance.
During E3 2022, Hideo Kojima confirmed rumors that he is indeed working on an Xbox exclusive. A cloud gaming game that has almost never found acceptance in the industry.
Microsoft said yes to Hideo Kojima’s insanity without thinking
Earlier this year, Hideo Kojima revealed he was running multiple bunnies, and it was true. He relaunched a Brain Structure podcast on Spotify and announced two games. Death Stranding 2 exclusively for PS5 and its Xbox cloud gaming project. A title that is not from yesterday.
If we already knew it had been on his mind for several years, we didn’t know that he had to struggle to find the right partner. Without naming them, he points out that some actors apparently rejected the proposal because they thought that Hideo Kojima “was crazy”…except Microsoft!
The project we’re working on with Microsoft is a project I’ve been thinking about for five or six years. The project required infrastructure that was never needed before, so I discussed and made presentations with many big companies, but they really seemed to think I was crazy. Ultimately, Microsoft showed that they got it, and now we’re working on the project together, including on the technology front.

Of course, we imagine that the Redmond company was not asked and was certainly waiting impatiently for this day. We remember the time Microsoft brought Hideo Kojima to an Xbox E3 conference to talk about Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, a title he didn’t develop.
Aside from bringing a big name in gaming back into its pocket, Microsoft must have also seen it as a huge showcase for game development solely in cloud gaming. An area in which the company is determined to assert itself and in which it is investing. Between the dedicated department in charge of signing projects and designing a console specifically for this technology, Microsoft doesn’t take it lightly and is more advanced at this level than its competitor PlayStation.
An Xbox game that was rejected by Stadia
While Hideo Kojima doesn’t list the actors who didn’t want his game, at least we know: Stadia. Back when the structure was developing, Kojima-san apparently set up an episodic format horror production: Overdose. It was rumored to be an exclusively developed game using technologies such as cloud gaming or 5G.
