It’s been eight years since James Bond last saved the world in 007 Legends in the course of a video game. Now Io Interactive – the development studio behind the Hitman series – brings back the British secret agent of MI6: under the working title »Project 007« a new title is to be created that tells the origin story of James Bond.

What is the story about?
According to the official website of Io Interactive tells Project 007 the origin story of James Bondwhich, however, is not based on any template by Ian Fleming. Specifically, this means that we learn how the MI6 agent earned his double-zero status and thus the license to kill.
The 2006 cinema reboot Casino Royale followed a similar approach with Daniel Craig as James Bond and Mads Mikkelsen as villain Le Chiffre. Whether Project 007 will use a cinema bond as a template for its main character is currently still open. This is not necessarily the case after Daniel Craig said goodbye to the role with No Time to Die.

How does Project 007 play?
Right now there is no official gameplay information of the James Bond game. However, it wouldn’t be too speculative if Project 007 were playfully based on the Hitman series.
After all, in these titles from Io Interactive we are (mostly) concealed, playing a hired killer who has a relatively large amount of freedom, weapons and gadgets to achieve his goal. Often enough, we end up in a wide variety of locations around the world. It’s not far from the hitman to the secret agent.
Is there a first trailer?
Project 007 was created by Io Interactive announced with a first teaser trailer. However, there are no real game scenes in it, instead we get to see the infamous “Gunbarrel” sequence that introduces almost every Bond movie that has been released to date.

When does Project 007 come out?
Io Interactive’s Bond project still has no release date. Since the developer is currently looking for reinforcements for the team on the official homepage, it can be assumed that Project 007 is still in a very early phase. So it should be a while before the Bond game appears.
For which platforms does Project 007 appear?
The platforms for which Project 007 is to be published is also current not known. The game is unlikely to be released for Playstation 4 or Xbox One anymore, but only on consoles for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X. We keep our fingers crossed for a PC version, but Io Interactive would not have disappointed in this regard in the past.
What else is happening at Io Interactive?
In January 2021, Hitman 3 will be released on PC exclusively in the Epic Games Store. The Steam version will follow in January 2022.
