Fans of Metroidvania games should check out the upcoming release from Surgent Studios, Kenzella’s Story: Expanded.
The main character of this single-player game is a sad boy named Zau, who is reading a Bantu story written by his late father. The story takes the boy on an adventure into a beautiful but treacherous land called Kenzera.

Upon arrival, the young shaman discovers an unknown mythical land that was once teeming with life and filled with lost ancestral souls. Whether Zou’s goal is to make a deal with Death and save his father from the darkness, and as Zou moves toward his goal, three powerful creatures, strange and familiar, await.
As Zau, you must face your emotions in order to become a worthy spiritual healer – Nganga.
To aid you on your journey, you’ll wield cosmic powers from the sun and moon to defeat the restless spirits that wander the land through rhythmic combat. You’ll use the power of the Moon Mask to manipulate time and crystallize enemies, or use the Sun Mask to fire fiery spears.
The game’s universe is inspired by Bantu stories of chaos and order, the memories of ancient shamans, sacred spirits and enchanted creatures.
Inspired by the personal experiences of Surgent Studios founder and BAFTA-nominated actor Abubakar Salim and their deep interconnectedness with video games, the game delivers this message to Abubakar’s father: “Greatness comes from resilience. and the experience of finding hope” and courage after loss. “
