That is bitter! The release of the real-time strategy sequel Homeworld 3 was actually imminent, but now we have to wait a lot longer. The developers have confirmed a postponement of the date!
Recently there was great joy around Homeworld 3, after all there is currently a playable demo of the War Games mode as part of the Steam Next Fest – not only on Steam, but even in the Epic Games Store. This should provide initial insights before the title becomes available as a full version at the beginning of March – but unfortunately that’s not happening now!
While you can still play the demo until mid-February, the full version is now taking noticeably longer than initially planned. Nothing will come of the release on March 8, 2024; Developer Blackbird Interactive has now officially confirmed th is. The test version initially raised some questions as to whether the makers would be able to fix existing errors by then. The answer to that is now available!
In a public statement, they first thanked people for the additional feedback from the community on the occasion of the demo. This has opened up new perspectives that we now want to incorporate into Homeworld 3 for the best possible gaming experience. After careful consideration, the decision was made to postpone the global release date of Homeworld 3 by around two months. Early access will now be available from May 10, 2024, and the general release of the real-time strategy game is scheduled for May 13, 2024.
This is ultimately intended to ensure that Homeworld 3 has the high quality that the fans deserve. After all, the fans have been waiting patiently and for a long time for this title. Let’s hope that the waiting time doesn’t end up being even longer and that Blackbird Interactive will be able to implement all the intended changes and improvements by May.
For the next few days you can at least focus on the Homeworld 3 demo before it is taken off the internet again.
