Horizon: Forbidden West: Report: Release slips into next year

Another blockbuster may, contrary to the previous plans, no longer appear in the current year 2021. According to a new report, Horizon: Forbidden West is now said to have caught it.

Aloy’s latest adventure in Horizon: Forbidden West is actually still planned for this year’s Christmas business, but the signs are apparently growing that nothing will come of it. The sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn could therefore be postponed noticeably.

At least that’s what a new report from Bloomberg News before Jeff Grubb, a well-known and very well-informed insider in his Giant-Bomb-Podcast jumped on the bandwagon. Although official confirmation from Guerrilla Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment is still pending, the action adventure with an open game world will apparently only be available for PS4 and PS5 in 2022.

Should it really turn out like that, then Horizon: Forbidden West would probably be the next blockbuster that has to pay tribute to the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated restrictions in development work. Because of this, the sequel to God of War had already slipped into the year 2022.

In an issue of the Official PlayStation Podcast, Herman Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios, had emphasized that with regard to Horizon: Forbidden West it was still open whether the planned schedule could be adhered to or not. It doesn’t seem to have worked now! We will of course report on it as soon as an official statement from Sony is available.
