In early October last year, based on several independent reports, rumors spread that Horzion: Zero Dawn could get a special PS5 reboot. Right at the start of the new year there are now new speculations in this regard.
So far, a PS5 remake of Horizon: Zero Dawn has not yet been officially confirmed, although there was solid speculation about it last fall. Right at the start of the new year, the topic pops up again, because an insider now reveals: The remake should not be created by the original developers Guerrilla Games themselves.
What is meant in this case is the usually well-informed insider Colin Moriarty, who has discussed the topic in a new issue of the Sacred-Symbols-Podcasts revisited. When he talked about the remake that was supposedly in the works, he emphasized that Guerrilla Games should not be working on it itself.
“We assume that [Guerrilla] actually implements the Horizon remake. However, if it turns out to be real, what I’ve heard is going to happen with another team,” Moriarty said.
An official announcement of this new edition tailored to the PS5 is still pending, so you should also classify the recent speculation strictly as a rumor. However, the fact that the reports on the subject have now increased, it can almost be assumed that there is really something to it.
Guerrilla Games itself is currently focusing on the “Burning Shores” expansion for the successor Horizon: Forbidden West; the add-on is said to be available from April 19, 2023.
