Rhaenyra from “House of the Dragon” was a princess of the House of Targaryen. The only child of King Viserys I and Queen Aemma Arryn, she was the legitimate heir to the Iron Throne. After the death of his wife, the king remarried and fathered three sons and a daughter with his young queen, Alicent Hightower.

When Rhaenyra was 32 years old, her father passed away. The Greens then appointed Aegon II as the new king of Westeros. Then the princess was crowned. The sibling rivalry flared after the murder of Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys at the hands of her half-brother Aemond. The bloody War of Inheritance, known as the “Dance of the Dragons,” was the culmination of the conflict between Rhaenyra and Aegon II.
Rhaenyra fought for her rulership alongside her uncle, Daemon Targaryen, whom she married after the death of her first husband. She lost the battle. When she retreated from King’s Landing to Dragonstone, Aegon II set a trap for her and captured her.
Before her son Aegon watched, Rhaenyra was devoured by the dragon Sunfire. Nevertheless, the blacks continued their fight and half a year after the death of Rhaenyra their son Aegon III. put on the throne.
