“House of the Dragon” is back with season 2 and the “Game of Thrones” prequel is full of hidden details. Have you noticed these Easter eggs?
From now on, there will be a new episode of “House of the Dragon” every Monday. The fantasy series, which is a prequel to “Game of Thrones”, has a total of 8 episodes in season 2 and “House of the Dragon” season 3 has already been confirmed.
The first episode of the new season is called “An Eye for an Eye” and shocks with a brutal ending, as we are used to from “Game of Thrones”. This is not the only parallel to GoT. The series is full of allusions and hidden details that we do not want to withhold from you.
New intro tells Targaryen story
Right at the beginning of the new episode there is a noticeable change compared to the last season. “House of the Dragon” has a new intro. This shows a beautifully decorated tapestry depicting the history of House Targaryen. We explain the individual embroidery patterns and their meaning!
House Stark
In the first few minutes of the new episode, we don’t even need our eyes to see that the scene is taking place in the north. The first musical sounds are already unmistakable: it is the musical theme of House Stark, which we already know from “Game of Thrones”.
Cregan Stark leads ice
Ice is the legendary sword wielded by Ned Stark (Sean Bean) in “Game of Thrones”. After his death, it is melted down and the Lannisters forge two new swords from it, Widow’s Lament, wielded by Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson), and Oathkeeper, wielded by Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie).
The fact that Ned Stark’s sword is simply melted down and bequeathed to the Lannisters is sad, especially considering the fact that the sword was already wielded by Eddard’s great-great-great-grandfather, Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor), whom we now see in “House of the Dragon”.
Winter is coming
The motto of House Stark is spoken again in the premiere episode of “House of the Dragon” Season 2. Cregan Stark himself speaks the words in conversation with Jacaerys Velaryon (Harry Collett).
The Dragon Slayers
On the walls of King’s Landing you can see the so-called scorpions. These are huge crossbows that are so strong that they can not only injure dragons, but also kill them. In “Game of Thrones” we see Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbaek) wielding them on his ship and using them to kill Daenerys’ (Emilia Clarke) dragon Rhaegal.
King Viserys has a statue in the Red Keep
The first season of “House of the Dragon” revolves around King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine). He dies in the ninth episode of the first season, but his presence is still felt in season 2, especially when we see a huge statue of his face in the Red Keep.
