So far, Mysaria was just a supporting character in “House of the Dragon” and the former mistress of Daemon Targaryen. However, this is soon to change and their spies, intrigues and plans are to have a decisive influence on the fortunes of Westeros.
- Mysaria is one of the most mysterious characters in the first season “House of the Dragon”.
- Often acting for changing parties, she maintains a brothel and rich espionage network.

After a 4 episode break we saw Mysaria again in episode 8 of “House of the Dragon”. Although she seems to have forgotten about Daemon after his marriage to Laena and travels in Essos, she was able to fend for herself quite well. Over the years she has not been idle and has come to some prosperity.
A brothel in King’s Landing and spies under her command are Mysaria’s tools of choice for gaining information and influence. Which side will the former dancer from Lys take in the looming conflict and dance of the dragons?
Ears and tongues in the furthest corners of the city
Earlier, we saw Mysaria delivering the explosive information about Daemon’s and Rhaenyra’s flea hole affair to Otto Hohenturm. The Hand apparently paid Mysaria for this critical observation, which allowed her to slowly build up her own “company”. In addition to her brothel, she also employs spies who inform her about all important events behind and in front of the walls of the Red Keep.
Similar to Larys, in “House of the Dragon” she falls somewhat into the role of Varys, the spider and master of the whisperers from “Game of Thrones”. She now uses the secret network she has built up for her own benefit.
Regarding spies in the closest circles of Alicent’s faction, there isn’t a dirty Green family secret that “Miser the White Worm” doesn’t know about. Because her loyalty is only to her and in some cases to whoever pays the most.
Mysaria’s main informant
One of the most important people in Mysaria’s service is probably Queen Alicent’s maid herself. Talya is always present and accompanies the queen wherever she goes. So she knows about almost all scandals, rivalries and problems of the Greens and can pass this information directly on to Mysaria.
Sometimes she is even involved in the machinations of the queen. For example, when Alicent gave the servant girl who had been raped by her son moon tea for an abortion. It is not entirely clear whether Mysaria lured Talya into her service with gold or threats. Nor is it known whether Tayla was “smuggled” into the castle, or whether she was already in the service of the queen before Mysaria approached her.
As Episode 8 of “House of the Dragon” concludes, we see Talya appear to be about to report on King Viserys I Targaryen’s “Atonement Feast” and the escalation that followed. All of this gives Mysaria a tremendous advantage, as she can always turn according to the right winds and pledge her services and skills to the more profitable party.
Where is Mysaria headed?
After King Viserys dies, Mysaria must turn to either faction. The Greens under Alicent have gold and Mysaria has worked with them before. The blacks under Rhaenyra may value her services more, however, and Mysaria has an erotic history with Prince Daemon.
This creates a fitting symmetry that each faction will have their own Whisperer Master. Lary’s power will officially be in the Small Council, while Mysaria, unknown to even all of Rhaenyra’s supporters, will prefer to operate unknown and unnamed from the shadows.
Mysaria’s knowledge of what is going on in the castle and her secret information on every player in King’s Landing will be of enormous importance and benefit to the blacks yet to come. Especially while Rhaenyra is stuck on Dragonstone with Daemon and her children planning her next move, Mysaria will be essential to her. Her information about the Greens and their actions should soon give Rhaenyra a decisive advantage against Alicent.
Two episodes left before Season 1 of House of the Dragon is over. With the death of King Viserys, the dance of the dragons should be just around the corner and thus set the direction for season 2, which should (almost) get by without major jumps in time.
