The best DLC ever?
Until now, The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine held this title, but Shadow of the Erdtree has even overtaken the add-on in terms of international reviews. It also had a dream start in terms of Steam player numbers for its release on June 21, 2024.
In addition to a whole new area (the Shadowlands) full of new bosses, smaller enemies, equipment and ghost ash, there is of course also a new story waiting for you. This time it’s about Miquella, the older twin brother of Malenia from the main game. Here you can watch the first ten minutes of the add-on – don’t worry, it’s really just a tiny fraction:

The add-on costs a whopping 40 dollars, but delivers around 15 hours of main story and easily another 20 side quests, collectibles and secrets. Your playing time depends of course on how quickly you kill the bosses and how much time you take for sightseeing, because there are again many beautifully dark sights.
