With the release of the midseason update on December 14th, there is a lot of new content to try out not only for Modern Warfare 2, but also for DMZ and Warzone 2. There are about two new modes in Battle Royale: In addition to Mini Royale (a shorter and smaller version), you can also try a soccer mode. Let’s summarize how it works.
We have listed everything else that is new with the update for Season 1 Reloaded in our large overview:

Where and when is Warzone Cup available?
As the name suggests, the game mode is part of Warzone 2 and is therefore available free of charge to all players, whether they have bought Modern Warfare 2 or not. However, you can only play soccer mode for a limited time: From December 14 at 7:00 p.m. to December 23 at 7:00 p.m you measure yourself against other players in the stadium.
This is how the Warzone Cup works
in one blog entry the developers explain all the details about the new game mode. We summarize the most important things for you:
- Rocket League in CoD: All operators sit on quads with a special boost function during matches. This allows you to shove a big ball around, and best of all into the opponent’s goal. But you can also ram enemy vehicles, there are no fouls. Sounds like Rocket League!
- Small Teams: In Warzone Cup, two teams of 3 players each compete against each other. You can team up with friends or use the Squad Filler feature, but having your own team is more convenient as communication is important here.
- Own card: Warzone Cup will be on
Al Easima Field
played at a soccer stadium in Al Mazrah. However, the goals are a little larger than in normal soccer games:

- Eliminate opponents: You cannot take any weapons or equipment into the stadium, but you can still disable opponents for a short time: If you ram an enemy vehicle at top speed, it will be destroyed and the opponent will spawn again after a short time. There are also Shock Sticks scattered around the stadium that you can pick up and throw at opponents to temporarily disable their vehicles.
- Who wins? You win if you are either the first team to score five goals, or if you have scored more goals than the opposing team after eight minutes (the game then ends automatically).
part of the football event
The Warzone Cup is of course part of the event for the World Cup that is taking place at the same time. Previously, three famous footballers were released as operators, which you can see in the trailer here:
