We’re running out of time to wait for publishers now Bandai Namco Palace and developers from software finally unleashed terror Eldon Ring into the world.
However, if you’re like me, you’re probably wondering how long it takes to beat this game the first time. After all, FromSoft’s games are notoriously difficult to complete, and your first playthrough is usually the hardest.
Well, we’ve got the answer for you. Revealed by producer Yasuhiro Kitao (during a live broadcast celebrating the game’s gold medal) The main story of Elden Ring will take around 30 hours to complete.
“This will vary by player, but in terms of the goals set during development, the main route should be able to be completed in about 30 hours,” Kitao explained during the livestream. For what it’s worth, the main story for the first two Dark Souls games is estimated to take around 40 hours, while Dark Souls 3 takes around 32 hours. So this is relatively consistent with other FromSoft games.
If that’s less than you’d expect from a Souls-like game, don’t worry; there’s a lot more in the title if you go looking for it. “The whole game is huge and contains dozens of hours of gameplay, but if we’re just talking about the main route, it shouldn’t take much.”
Given Elden Ring’s open-world design, we think the actual “golden path” through the heartbeat of the story is only a small part of the whole thing. After all, George RR Martin wasn’t chosen for no reason to provide a complete game world.
And the quality bar for the title is set high, too; in our preview, we noticed Elden Ring’s potential for collaboration in FromSoftware’s most open world to date. The graphics aren’t too shabby either.
If you’re keen to save the doomed world in 30 hours, or take the time to get through it, don’t worry – you can’t wait. Elden Ring is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on February 25, 2022.
