Gamescom 2022 officially begins tomorrow night with its inaugural conference: Opening Night Live. We tell you everything you need to know about this event, the confirmed games, the expected ones and the craziest and most credible rumors.
The second summer meeting has returned in good shape. Starting this week, the German lounge will once again open its doors to players from all over the world. The big night is coming. After a few weeks of teasing, Opening Night Live is here to kick off the ball for Gamescom 2022 with a conference we’re promised rich in announcements. Dead Space emulator The Callisto Protocol will also return with exclusive gameplay. The same story for the Gotham Knights vigilantes, who will rule the law for the time of a trailer. Sonic Frontiers, long featured during Summer Game Fest, will continue to try to curry favor with fans at Gamescom 2022. The open-world game should also announce its release date for the occasion. Return to Monkey Island, another title particularly awaited by its community, will make a detour to the German show’s conference to surely also announce its launch date. On the MMO side, the creators of Genshin Impact will once again present Honkai Star Rail, their new project.
Some productions, maybe less expected, will be there. Outlast Trials will delight players with a new video, while Goat Simulator 3 promises a completely different atmosphere. Games expected for Opening Night Live
The Opening Night Live teaser more or less confirmed a few games. Starting with Lies of P, the spiritual successor to Bloodborne, which according to a leak, was probably supposed to announce its day-one release on Xbox Game Pass. Dying Light 2’s first major DLC, Blood Ties, will also make an appearance at the Gamescom 2022 opening ceremony to show it’s form. A Plague Tale Requiem should no doubt feature some footage as well, much like Skull & Bones, which is also featured in the event trailer.
Also featured may be the recently announced spin-off game Lord of the Rings from Weta Workshop and Private Division. Hazel Light (It Takes Two) was also due to announce his new game this summer. Since Telltale will be showcasing one of its games and the developer has promised updates on The Wolf Among Us 2 this year, the ONL could be the one. One thing is for sure, we won’t have to rely on PlayStation or Nintendo announcements.
There are rumors about the other games presented. Some are almost certain, thanks to leaks from Amazon. The American giant could have revealed two big surprises from Gamescom 2022 ahead of time: starting with New Tales From the Borderlands, the Telltale story-telling sequel that will feature new characters. According to the site’s blunder, the title would be scheduled for October 21, 2022. Fans of Avatar The Last Airbender might also discover the famous RPG for home consoles and PC: Avatar Quest for Balance. The big spoiled surprise, however, would FINALLY be the return of Dead Island 2. The game that caused a stir at E3 2014 would be alive and well and ready for release, according to a leak from Amazon.
and Delicious also has a good reputation bullied the presence of the open world game Dune signs Funcom. So far, the publisher of Conan Exiles has been content to show some concept art.
