The start of the Summer Game Fest celebrations is fast approaching and the event promises to be rich in announcements as well. PS5, Xbox Series, PC and Nintendo Switch should have something for everyone. Date, time, how to watch the conference, what to expect? We do a little review.
It’s the big night. After weeks of teasing, Summer Game Fest 2022 will officially kick off with its own conference. An exceptional show promised to us that will take place this Thursday, June 9th at 8pm (French time). No exact duration has been confirmed, but it lasts at least 90 minutes. Fewer new games will be announced, but that doesn’t mean a reduced show. As Keighley recalled, Elden Ring had already been announced when it ignited the same scene last year. The confirmed games of SGF 2022
If the SGF conference has more surprise announcements in store, the organizers didn’t hesitate to confirm the presence of a handful of them. Starting with Dead Space’s emulator, The Callisto Protocol, which will reveal its first gameplay extracts. The newly announced Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will preview a gameplay demo of its main campaign. Among those revealing its gameplay, One Piece Odyssey will also reveal what it has in its belly. The JRPG with Bandai sauce will also present its mechanics, why not a release date for the key.
It was one of the most persistent rumors, now it is confirmed. Yes, Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be showing at Summer Game Fest 2022. The XCOM superhero version would have deserved a rework after the announcement of its postponement and we should finally see it. In keeping with the theme, Batman’s charges return with a Gotham Knights gameplay sequence. With Robin and Red Hood already having the honor, it was the turn of the duo Nightwing and Batgirl. As a little State of Play surprise, Street Fighter 6 will also be popping heads to reveal new gameplay footage and at least one new character. Well, the surprise won’t really be one as the list has already been leaked.
The cold shower from Sonic Frontiers should continue, because the blue hedgehog is cordially invited to the event. Amidst these big productions, some more confidential games are highlighted. Beginning with Nightingale, the first production from Aaryn Flynn’s new studio (Mass Effect). Frost Giant Studios’ first RTS featuring Starcraft and Blizzard veterans is announced at Summer Game Fest 2022.
Games planned for the conference
The Summer Game Fest teaser trailer more or less confirmed a few games including TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, Saints Row should also be there. Among the thirty publishers that will offer the show, we find Telltale Games. The developer had promised news of The Wolf Among Us 2 for this year, it seems to be the right one. Summer Game Fest 2022 rumor update
Rumors are rampant for the rest of the featured games, some more persistent and crazier than others. Hollow Knight: Silksong could finally emerge from its long silence during Summer Game Fest 2022. The messiah-anticipated title at every Nintendo Direct, the sequel to Team Cherry’s nugget, has been teased by one of his marketing team members. Real clue or wet cracker? Answer tonight. A reliable insider also teased a Quantic Dream announcement during the celebrations. That it will be Star Wars Eclipse seems unlikely at this point, but we do know that the French studio is working on several projects at once, including a dark fantasy game.
The most persistent rumor remains the announcement of the God of War Ragnarok release date. Final Fantasy 16 had the right to a similar manipulation just before it set State of Play on fire in June. A specific The Last of Us Remake is also expected. Whether Microsoft and Nintendo will also make announcements or stay warm for their respective events remains to be seen.
