After several failed attempts and discontinued projects, the Eve Online developers are still sticking to the idea an FPS shooter set in the Eve universe Celebration. At this year’s Eve Fanfest in Reykjavik, Iceland, studio CCP Games (via PCGamer) announced a new project of this kind. And no, this is not the first attempt. We provide you with the most important information.
Incidentally, the developers are also working on an interface to be able to seamlessly transfer data from the game and have entered into an extremely unusual cooperation for this purpose:
Eve Online
Excel comes into space
All good things come in threes
At this point, let’s look back at the first two attempts for a shooter in the Eve universe.
Eve-Shooter #1: The developers of Eve Online started the first attempt in 2009 when they published a trailer for the title Dust 514 there for the first time. The FPS shooter was released on May 14, 2013 free2play for the Playstation 3. Only three years after the launch, however, the servers were switched off again and the title was discontinued.
Eve-Shooter #2: But then the work on a new FPS shooter in the same universe was announced, which had the working title Project Nova. But even before the closed alpha was supposed to start, the developers pushed the game back into the planning phase, as initial feedback left a lot to be desired.
Over the course of Project Nova’s development, we’ve conducted a number of player studies with external partners, relentlessly tested the game internally, and engaged the community to evaluate the project. Now that we have considered all of this research and feedback, we see that the gaming experience as it is now falls short of our original vision and would not meet our ambitious goals for this project. Because of this, we will not proceed with the upcoming invite-only alpha until further notice.
to CCP PCGamer in 2018 to discontinue Project Nova
Not much has been heard from Project Nova since then. This project was postponed indefinitely for the time being and then discontinued at some point without much notice. What Project Nova could have been, we address in the following video preview:

Hope dies last
This will now be Eve Shooter #3: But apparently the developers still haven’t given up hope. As already mentioned, a new first-person shooter set in the Eve universe has now been announced. The project is currently still in a very early development phase, so concrete information is very limited.
Currently we only know that it is a tactical multiplayer shooter with atmospheric graphics
Hardcore Elementsshould act. A real announcement will only be made later, as soon as there is more to show than to tell.
We know that a hard sci-fi FPS game set in the EVE universe is a very popular concept and CCP is committed to offering an innovative multiplayer shooter with atmospheric graphics. Rather than telling you, we want to show you how we came up with this concept, and we look forward to doing so when it comes time to reveal the game.

Eve: Valkyrie – Warzone – Launch trailer for the non-VR version of the space action game
Other Eve Online spinoffs: By the way, the space action game with VR focus Eve: Valkyrie was released recently. However, the virtual reality experiment flopped, which is why developers CCP from the genre completely adopted. The CCP Newcastle studio responsible for Valkyrie was sold after numerous employees were laid off due to manageable numbers.
What do you think? Will the third attempt finally be something and give you a first-person shooter in the Eve universe? What would you most like to see from this title? Tell us in the comments!
