With the advances in artificial intelligence, it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish these chatbots like ChatGPT and Bard from real humans due to their ability to render human speech very realistically.
The game Human or not ? is based on the famous Turing test developed by British computer pioneer Alan Turing in 1950. The test usually consists of asking someone to engage in an anonymous conversation and inferring whether the other party is real or fake.
Can you tell if it’s human or AI?
The application was developed by AI21 Labs, an Israeli company specializing in AI systems Human or not ?, presents itself as a parlor game based on the model of Turing. The concept is simple but captivating: you engage in a conversation with an interlocutor (whether human or artificial). You are free to ask as many questions or give as many answers as you like, but the interview only lasts two minutes. After the timer runs out, you must determine whether the entity you traded with was human or AI.
If you want to experience this concept for yourself, you can go to the site Human or not ? and click the “Start Game” button. Then you can start the conversation or wait until the person you are talking to starts. When asking questions and making statements to stimulate conversation, it’s important to pay attention to how the entity you’re speaking to speaks and behaves.
After the time is up, the question arises: did you talk to a human or a robot? If you answer correctly, you win the game.
Even if the game “Human or AI?” is not as riveting as the famous Voigt-Kampff test, made popular by the film ” Bladerunner »it remains a fun way to entertain yourself while waiting for more AI-based games.
A game created to challenge artificial intelligence design
Alan Meron, Artistic Director of A21 Labs, explained that the idea of making the game “Human or not?” came to him after many discussions about artificial intelligence with friends and colleagues. According to him, the aim of the game is to challenge conventional wisdom about artificial intelligence.
To create the game, the company used several large language models (called LLMs), including its own Jurassic 2 model. These languages use the “deep learning” method, which consists in learning from the answers given and trying to create a text that resembles as closely as possible that written by a human.
