In its own words, dark and tough science fiction is like Outlander It's what the Polish flying studio is best at.
In order to perform a dystopian mission and find the human golden world from the dying earth, your Outriders team settled on the planet Enoch, but was pushed back to 30 years of low-temperature sleep after clashing with the mysterious Anomaly.
You wake up and discover that Enoch is destroyed by uninterrupted war, and the encounter with Anomaly sets you apart-able to control time, space, and elements such as fire and electricity.
"We just want to tell a mature story," said Szymon Barchan, lead narrative designer at People Can Fly.
"Just like in Bulletstorm, it's a bit fun, so we've delivered something similar. Now we want to prove that we can also make a mature story."
"It's always in our DNA;" a brutal approach, "Rafal Pawlowski, chief designer at Outriders, continued.
"Many of us really like RPG games. Our goal is to make a game that combines these two types of games: RPG and shooting games. As you can see, we set the challenge for ourselves."
As a project, Outriders have been fully developed for four years since People Can Fly was spun off from Epic Games in 2015. This Warsaw-based studio partnered with Epic to develop Gears of War: Judgment and is working on the first iteration of Fortnite.
Now independent, but in collaboration with Square Enix to release Outriders, "People Can Fly" is always eager to resume building its own IP.
"It's always been there," Pawlowski said of when People Can Fly knew he wanted to make his own series.
"We do want to create this game to be shown now-from day one, the vision is very clear. Cooperatives, RPGs, shooting games. Dark, desperate science fiction universe. From the beginning, these were part of the vision . "
"And marksmanship, and great skills," Barchan added.
These are the cornerstones of the project. We want to be our own IP and have control and guidance. We showed it to Square Enix, and they liked the idea and said, "Go!" This is how it finally started. "
"We work with Epic on all our projects, even going back to Painkiller, Bulletstorm, Gears of War: Trial, and Fortnite," Pawlowski explained. "All these experiences are crucial to us and may even help us make decisions.
"This is by far the most ambitious project for People Can Fly."
Although People Can Fly's team is working hard to organize effective stories, they are doing this by creating characters. This works well in the Mass Effect series, and Outriders seems to have taken a lot of inspiration from it, but it is still difficult to achieve.
"About player characters, we always want players to have their own Outriders story," Pawlowski said. "When you choose your own path and shape your role, you will grow with the world."
"This is a challenge," Barchan explained. "But we really worked on all the other characters we encountered in the game. They are not simple and clear black and white images, so you have the functionality of a shooting and skill game, but we also want to show you a story.
"By cooperating between storytelling and gameplay throughout the level, we work very closely in blending the environment with the story. Obviously there are some iterations, but we want to create a truly alive universe that will take you into , You can feel your surroundings. "
Outriders will be released on current hardware, PS5, Xbox Series X and PC around the 2020 holiday.
The release date has been postponed to better coincide with new gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
Despite being robbers, Outriders do not fit the real-time service model. Instead, People Can Fly aims to provide players with a "full package" at launch.
