In a rather unexpected change, Blizzard disabled the aggro option in Diablo IV after the developers discovered the game’s PvP issues. Blizzard didn’t say what the issue was, but explained that you’ll no longer receive the Chosen of Hate buff while in Hateland.
Hatefields are designated areas in the Diablo 4 map where players can chase other players.when you able Target the monsters in these areas, the best rewards come from fighting other players.
If you manage to get 100 points by killing other players (about ten kills), you’ll become aggro-chosen. This shows your real-time location, which others can see for five minutes. Players who end your reign will be rewarded handsomely, but you’ll also be incentivized to try to stay alive in the hunt.
When you are Chosen of Hatred, you gain Hatred Seeds every time you hit. Hatred Seeds are the main reward for this zone. However, you can’t take the Hate Seeds out of Hatelands without purifying them at the designated extraction altar, making Chosen of Hate the most powerful buff in Hatelands.
If you survive the full five minutes, all your seeds are instantly purified and turned to mortal dust – which you can use to buy currency and such from vendors in the area. That’s why it’s worth risking everything to become Chosen for Hate.
But that won’t happen again until Blizzard re-enables it. In an announcement on the Diablo 4 forums, Blizzard explained that you’ll still see UI alerts for hate voters, but the buff won’t trigger. This also means that you will no longer get a seed every time you click.
“We will fix it in an upcoming update and update the community when this feature is enabled again once the fix is complete,” the developer said.
This obviously means that you shouldn’t be targeting other players in aggro right now until the issue is fixed. We expect the big preseason patch to be released tomorrow, 18th July – so hopefully the patch notes fix that.
If you haven’t already, you should definitely start checking everything on this list to get ready for vicious season.
