A success that could never have seen the light of day
With a score of 19/20 for the first and second opus and a score of 17/20 for the most recent remake, The Last of Us saga is undoubtedly one of the best video games in history. Between its compelling context, authentic characters, and onion-based narrative, the game is by cheeky dog knew how to captivate the players and offer them an experience they will not forget. Believe it or not, though The project did not seem to have unanimous support in the early stages of development. At least that’s what emerges from the interview that Neil Druckmann, the father of the series, Los Angeles Times.
While recounting the game’s early history, Druckmann goes back to when they first told the marketing team about the title. According to his information, the latter was then issued a particularly negative opinion :
We had a concept for the story and some concept art and the process requires us to show all of that to some players who interview them and they take stock. they hated it. They said, “I have to escort a 14-year-old girl across the country? My sister is 14 years old and she is difficult. I don’t want to play this game.”
Luckily, the developers weren’t their first success, so they had PlayStation’s full trust at the time. The marketing group’s opinion therefore did not carry the weight that it might have with other developers, and Druckmann and his team were able to move forward with the project to make it a reality. Today, the game’s success is such that it could be adapted into a live-action series produced by HBO, and the latter is destined for the same fate.
The series is a hit
Indeed, as of last Monday, Amazon Prime Video subscribers can (re)live the adventures of Joel and Ellie in a whole new way. Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the series has already proven itself with the broadcast of the first episode, which convinced many viewerswhether they played the original game or not.
As we told you this afternoon, HBO even announced on Twitter that the series has brought nothing less than together 10 million viewers in just two days, a real box. So it only remains to be seen if the success continues with the airing of the episodes, but enough to tell you that we are already looking forward to next Monday.
