Iconic PS1 games are coming

Coming, Games, iconic, PS1

A new leak from Reddit would have revealed five new retro games available at PS Plus Premium launch. Among several PS1 classics.

The mystery of the PS Plus Premium retro catalog is gradually clearing up. While Sony is still reluctant to officially communicate about the games that will be released from the PS1 to the PS3, some gamers care about it instead.

Classics in PS Plus Premium

The PS Plus Premium will make people happy. As we know, the new subscription formula that brings together PS Plus and PS Now gives players access to almost 350 games from older generations. What Sony is keeping secret is the official list of PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3 games that will make up this retro catalogue. A new leak could have revealed some of them to us.

And fans of the first PlayStation should be in heaven. A user Reddit actually managed to get my hands on identifiers and graphics of five games that will be joining the PS Plus Premium. Including two classics, one from the PS1 and the other from the PSP. One was Tekken 2, which was released in 1996, and the other was Ridge Racer 2, which saw the heyday of the portable console in 2006. The first known retro games would then be:

  • Mr. Bohrer (PS1)
  • Tekken 2 (PS1)
  • Ridge Racer 2 (PSP)
  • Worms Armageddon (PS1)
  • Worms World Party (PS1)

Another PS1 must-have license planned?

If the leak in question seems credible, caution is still advised. Last week, another leak revealed the possible return of the Siphon Filter saga, a legendary PS1 license. However, we’ll have to wait for Sony’s confirmation to find out if all these beautiful people will really be part of PS Plus Premium’s retro catalogue.

Keep in mind that access to games from the brand’s old eras isn’t the only advantage of this new formula. Subscribers can also enjoy 400 current titles. They can also try PS5 games for two hours before buying them. Indeed, Sony would have changed its policy to force developers to create playable demos.
