If you can believe it, The Sims turns 25 next month, and the celebratory video behind The Sims released next week is “pretty special” and should help us understand what's coming next

Not to make you feel old or anything, but The Sims turns 25 this year and is about to launch a livestream to show you what the series has to offer.

Time is an unstoppable force. Banish your existential fears and let the good times begin! Because earlier this week, The Sims’ official Twitter account announced that a new Behind the Sims livestream was coming, and it was a very special 25th anniversary livestream. “A very hilarious man behind The Sims is coming!” read the announcement post. “On January 14th at 9am PT, we’ll be celebrating 25 years of The Sims, so tune in!”

That's pretty much it as far as details go, with no specific details revealed about what could be shown off or anything coming soon for The Sims 4, so you'll just have to wait and see what the livestream reveals. It can cover a wide range of areas, such as Project Rene, which is a project that has not been officially announced, but is not actually “The Sims 5”. It's also possible that we'll hear more about Margot Robbie's live-action Sims movie in the works, although it's probably too early considering it was technically only officially announced recently, so if it does happen I don't Would expect anything more than confirmation from the director, or possibly the first step in casting.

The Sims livestreams are notorious for disappointing fans, so on such an important anniversary, you'd better hope it's more than just “Look at this cool new chair coming to the game!”
