If you’re a fan of Silent Hill 2 but made the switch to Xbox from the PS2 days, you’ll have to wait a full year for the game to be released on PS5.
We’re still a while away from the release of Bloober Team’s remake of Silent Hill 2, but like the original game, it will be exclusive to the PS5 console (PC players can play it at any time). The Silent Hill series was obviously better suited to the PlayStation, given that the first game came out on the PS1, but it did come to various Xbox consoles over the next few years, including Silent Hill 2, and later it came to the original Xbox under the subtitle The Fear Within.

But like many third-party PlayStation exclusives these days, Sony appears to have only purchased about a year of exclusivity, as a recent trailer for the game noted that Silent Hill 2 Remastered won’t be available on other formats “until October 8, 2025.”
As a reminder, October 8, 2024 is the release date for the Silent Hill 2 remaster, so the exclusivity period will last exactly one year. Considering the remaster will be coming to PC at launch, these “other formats” obviously refer to Xbox. Technically, this also doesn’t confirm that the game will be coming to Xbox a year after its launch on PlayStation, as these announcements usually seem to come shortly after the exclusivity deal ends, but considering that Bloober Team’s most recent game, The Medium, was an Xbox Series X/S exclusive (even if only for a few months), it’s a safe bet that it will arrive eventually.
Our own Kelsey got to go hands-on with the remake last month, and to their surprise, they actually felt like it was pretty good.
