Have you ever thought about the time before cell phones? In the days when your partner’s house called your landline, only their mom answered.

“Can I talk to Jimmy?”
“Is that Tom? Well, I’ll go find Jimmy.”
“…Jimmy! Jimmy! Tom’s on the phone.”
“Hello.”
“Hello. Do you want to come to my house?”
“…Mom! Can I go to Tom’s house?”
“…are you drinking tea there?”
“Did Mom say I’m drinking tea there?”
“…Mom, can Jimmy have tea here?”
“… Yes.”
“Yes.”
“OK.”
“OK.”
“goodbye.”

We had such great conversations on our phones before everything turned into texts and WhatsApp messages.

My grandfather didn’t even use the landline to talk to his friends. He used a CB radio.

“Mike, I’m Tom. Closing (note: everyone in my family is named Tom!)”
“Mike, this is Tom. It’s over.”
“Tom, I’m Mike. It’s over.”
“Hello, Mike. It’s over.”
“Have you watched football? It’s over.”
“Yes. It’s over.”
“Ian Rush is a C**T! It’s over.”
“C**T! It’s over”

My grandfather had such a great conversation on his CB radio before everything turned into texts and WhatsApp messages. If he realises what the future of cell phones holds, he’ll be flabbergasted.

Anyway. Welcome to iGamesNews’s Best Gaming Podcast: Episode 20 – The best game you’ve ever played on your phone.

Be sure to let us know what you think of the show – if this is your first time listening, come back and listen to the previous episodes. If you have suggestions for topics, we’d love to hear them. If you’re a Billcliffe fan (I hear there are some), he’ll be back soon, so don’t message me about him again.

“What’s iGamesNews’s best gaming podcast ever?” you ask, wondering how I remember those conversations from 30 years ago verbatim. I will be on an equal footing with you. These conversations popped out of my head about five minutes ago. But they are accurate in tone, feel and language. Anyway, this podcast, which is why you’re on this page, is essentially a 30-minute panel presentation where people (me and a few others on iGamesNews) decide the best game in a particular category. That’s it. very good. listen to this.

We’ve included some details on the show’s content below (if you want to review for a great, thoughtful post before heading to the review, or don’t want to hear but want to know which games we’ve picked), so if you want to avoid Spoilers, please don’t scroll through this fan-made Chris Bratt if he’s what his phone background looks like. The best game you’ve ever played on your phone

This is the subject of episode 20 of iGamesNews’s Best Gaming Podcast Ever. Here’s a rundown of who chose what.

Tom – Rising Stars Football

Before mobile gaming was all fancy pants, Rising Stars Soccer blazed the trail with simple but flawless touchscreen gameplay, neat management simulation mechanics, and more sex that was hard to pin down. It’s just awesome, and I spend more time on my phone than any other game.

Alex – Vintage Bowl

Retro Bowl is an excellent game that expresses the greatness of a classic 8-bit arcade age sports game condensed into a mobile game that, despite its simple demo and budget price, ultimately feels Incredibly deep. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone – American football fan or not.

But honestly, even better is my personal connection to the game, which is directly responsible for keeping me awake during a stressful 48 hours. It’s great, but if keeping your head up when you’re stuck far from home because the world is crumbling around you isn’t a great demonstration of mobile gaming, I don’t know what is.

Connor – Pokemon Go

I know it’s the obvious choice, but Pokemon Go is for me the best mobile game I’ve ever played, and the only one that really puts me out. Instead of sitting at home knocking on doors. It really was an explosive entity in the gaming space in its early days. Everyone is playing – everyone! You, me, your colleagues, your boss, my boss (probably).

Everyone has their own story of seeing hordes of people walking around, facing their phones, looking for Pokemon. In the early days, before Niantic found people walking into pits and through construction sites in Looney cartoon style, there was a real wild energy to this gore.

Faction rivalry is real: not online weak sauce beauty beef, I’m talking about the real deal! You can see those fools on the other team, you can see them go up and take a spot, and you can let them down when you get your spot back. Glorious social game. The best mobile platform.
