Hello ! Today is the big day: I’m going through the big leagues with the Xbox Series X! No, I’m trolling … But I received the Xbox Series X, and I’ll be able to tell you about it in much more detail, even if I’ve already had the chance to see it.
The first point I want to come back to is about taxes in overseas territories. I had already talked about itin a previous article, and La Poste’s new terms and conditions state that we have to pay customs clearance fees for every package received in French overseas territories! It was indeed a mistake by La Poste and suddenly the excessive taxes of July 1, 2021 no longer have to be: in fact, as in France, these taxes only apply to the parcels from OUTSIDE the ‘European Union! So be careful, online payment obviously doesn’t work. So calculate with 8 + 2.5% additional customs taxes, in addition to OMR, OM and of course VAT! This applies to Martinique, but also to Guadeloupe, Guyana and La Runion ^^! ATTENTION: The classic taxes (VAT, OM, OMR and DAOM) are always due, I am talking about the costs of customs clearance of “other taxes”. More information here:
Then, let’s get to the console itself … And a big thumbs up to the Microsoft packaging teams. This is the best console unboxing experience I’ve ever had, right before the Xbox Series S unboxed! And by the way, I really liked the “recycled cardboard” page of the S series … left a good memory of unpacking your console (the PS5 could have done better on its level, I limited the memory that the console could have had stowed away with it. Egg cartons in my memories). First contact with the console that I had never worn before, well … it’s heavy. Compact. Firmly. In fact, it’s the weight of a PS5 in a smaller volume ^^!
Start the console and … well, I already noticed: it is exactly the same interface as that of the Xbox Series S (so far for the Pixel) but also that of the Xbox One S / X (but it is faster, especially when starting a Application such as the store). Not a disappointment at this level, but still the UI MUST be in 4K to avoid the feeling of being on the same console as my Xbox Series S. So of course the feeling with the console didn’t kill you, but it’s a shame.
The console is just a marvel in terms of design, with total silence (yes, even quieter than my Xbox Series Squi itself is quieter than my PS5, but it’s fine for all three consoles, I can’t hear them. Never in the game, im In contrast to the GTX 1660 TI of my gaming PC, which is a horror at this level) but very quickly we find ourselves confronted with the range of games, pretty starved, as long as we were up to -l a big Xbox gamer … Let me explain :
If Xbox Game Pass is a game changer (like the Xbox Series S), I have to admit that taking games out of my library to “junk “To reproduce. “Rediscovering” Watch Dogs 2 at 60 fps, that’s cool, but I want potatoes in my jaw, I didn’t spend 500 to play Xbox One Boost games! , did the job, but that’s the price we’d like to have at least ONE killer app … But maybe we finally have a machine on the streaming level that can keep up? Who knows…
Stream from Xbox Series X to Twitch
Play this video on YouTube
So I tried streaming from the console, expecting to have a better streaming experience than my S Series (which I stream with an Avermedia connected to my PC). Surprise (or not): it’s always that bad! And, since the Xbox One X, in fact … and it’s even worse because in the days of the Xbox One we still had Mixers that offered high quality streaming! The Twitch application, that was nonsense. What! And that hasn’t changed: wrong selection of the Twitch server (I’ve probably hooked up a server in Europe when I’m very close to the US) and suddenly poor speed (barely 2200kbit / s), inability to choose the frame rate ( only the resolution and 4 resolutions 240p / 480p / 720p and 1080p, if two resolutions 720p / 1080p with frame rate options were more relevant), in short, helps … But nothing more.
I’m not going to consider the quality of the video, pixelated (presumably based on 2200kbit / s what), but overall I’m very happy, especially since a limited number of cameras work with the console – note that the Camra Kinect is incompatible while it is works on the One X, to say the least. Let us add that while recording the gameplay on the console it does not record the chat group conversation and worse, it is impossible to comment on your game with a micro USB or even the headset microphone and no options are available.
Finally, to record more than 15 minutes of gameplay you will need … an external hard drive! Otherwise you will not be able to record your gameplay and the sharing application will not allow uploading to Youtube (including Twitch). In short, a console that isn’t intended for developers at all, and that’s a shame. No difference to the Xbox Series S at this level … it’s a zero point and it’s not a glop (well, in real life I draw some gameplays on videos this way, but nothing more).
And if not, the games?
Well, we are buying a console for gaming, this console that I have praised so much on all forums, I, SuzuKube, Xbox Series S player, don’t want to give up the supremacy of the Xbox Series X … I will while gaming finally being able to breathe – what am I saying – are my many Xbox games that have accumulated over the years LIVE?
Well … it’s anything but the nirvana I’ve been told, or maybe I’m a bit jaded, I don’t know anymore … When I buy an Xbox Series S 300 and discover little ind games, Psychonaut, un p ‘titOri And The Will of Whisp, or even Dragon Quest Builders 2, via Game Pass, it’s really a treat on a small console at this price point! Peck, explore, play games on a console that’s worth less than 2 Big Macs (yes, ok, I exaggerated) this is great. Starting a Sea of Thieves game and being more impressed with its DA and graphics than its resolution (which also adapts very well to the game’s animated style) is just great!
But on Xbox Series X, it’s still … something else. Spoiler: I have a PS5 at home and have never been able to tell a graphical difference between a PS5 multiplayer and the Xbox Series X, especially when I play it in stores. Well, that is confirmed at home – after I have a 42-inch TV, so when I immerse myself in my games, the difference between Xbox Series S and X is only too seldom glaring to change my gaming experience, then you pretend between a PS5 in front of and an Xbox Series X … And that’s exactly what I expected: I had the same feeling as when switching graphics cards on my PC. The same gaming experience between my Xbox One X / Series S / Series X, but with only other restrictions.
Result? Even while browsing Game Pass, there wasn’t really a game that made me click. Come on, I’ll enjoy playing Deny AutomatasurXbox Series X for fun (once again) (although I don’t even know what the differences will be with the Xbox One X version). Cant wait to launch A Plague Tale: Innocencemme when I feel like the Xbox Series S / X patch is narrowing the gap with the Xbox Series S version. Worse still, I restarted Watch Dogs Legion to … turn off Ray Tracing (yes, that feature was sold to me so much with these next-gen consoles) and inevitably admit that Ray Tracing’s post is the 60’s fps is not worth it, so I play “roughly” the Xbox One X version of the game, but at 60 fps (or the Xbox Series S version at 2160p, depending on your point of view).
Arf and what is your conclusion?
With a PS5, the Xbox Series X was more than dispensable, and the Xbox Series S largely does its job of “machine-eating Game Pass games with popcorn while browsing from game to game like a Netflix catalog.” No need for 4K / 60 fps for that – I mean, for the big show, just use the multi-games on your PS5. This remains the combo I recommend ^^!
MORE!
If you are demanding, followers ofDigital Foundry Comparisons, love Blu-Ray games and DOES NOT want to compromise, yes it is the Xbox Series X for you. A well made console that is above Sony’s in terms of build quality (except for LEDs, j ‘likes the LEDs on the PS5) but so lazy about the controller. Xbox controllers are great in terms of ergonomics, but for evolution … we’ll be back. And those batteries, damn it, are still pissing me off so badly in 2021. Ms. Nintendo moved on to the next level, got the job done. At least they’re in the box you tell me, and they last for a good thirty hours.
I feel the Xbox Series X is a console for fans of the brand who are inclined to spend 500 to rediscover their Xbox game library (the first of the name, 360 and One) on the best terms the Xbox brand has ever offered the performance level, we have to admit that in some games it holds the Drage to an RTX 2080, thanks for the optimization) and this price apart from the PS5 there is nothing better on the A console with Game Pass as the current main argument (and for Lucky I think I wouldn’t have bought an S or X without them), but also a normal Achilles heel:
- No killer app, no game that seduces me.
No return to give me a unique experience, no Ratchet & Clank to surprise and inspire me with movements, no demon soul that makes me shudder and not even a Spider-Man remaster to show me:“SuzuK”, look, ray tracing is a “.
And that’s perhaps the biggest disappointment with this console for me, as I haven’t managed to evoke emotions (where the concept / price of the Xbox Series S managed to become a perfect little Inds machine that my little Nintendo Switch amazes loves it).
Well there it was, there was a little bit of humor on the console, glad to have one and discover it. I also have faith in the future of this console, I have no doubt that it will deliver exceptional gaming experiences! But I want to share with you my deepest thoughts about this next generation console offered by Microsoft and be honest with you. Ah, and before I forget … there’s a valid 14-day Xbox Game Pass Ultimate test code on the vlog (unless a ninja used it without saying thank you) ^^!
