Gaming News “I’m sorry” This GTA player meets the developer who destroyed his speedrun and it’s tragic
One of its former developers has revealed a new secret of one of the most popular GTAs, which could be the cause of the failure of many speedrunners.
A video game monument
For most of our readers, San Andreas is a must-read, but a little reminder never hurts. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, developed by Rockstar Games, is an open-world action-adventure game set in the fictional state of San Andreas
As usual in a GTA, San Andreas offers a variety of missions, from heists and street racing to surveillance and pursuit missions. Players can customize their character, CJ, with different clothing and accessories, with the progression system based on the player’s actions. For example, eating too much makes CJ gain weight, while going to the gym builds his muscles and improves his charisma.
The game deals with themes such as urban violence, organized crime, racial tensions and gang conflicts. Its soundtrack includes songs by artists such as Ice Cube, Toto and Kool & The Gang have become icons.
Hailed for its overwhelming map size for the time, San Andreas offers unprecedented freedom of exploration. It remains one of the most iconic games in the GTA saga, even if some controversy remains surrounding its depiction of violence and crime. Despite it, It inspired a lot of passion among speedrunners, even if certain bugs may have frustrated more than one.
Speedbugger
Obbe Vermeiji, a former developer at Rockstar Games, recently revealed the origins of a catastrophic bug that ruined the run of AlolaGirly, a San Andreas speedrunner. In a video, she is seen being hit by a plane that accidentally crashes, dashing her hopes of setting a record. She said on Twitter:
I am officially one of the worst-case victims. I was already upset about my run and these events discouraged me even more.
She also refers to an incident where a police car suddenly turned right, resulting in CJ crashing and being immediately arrested. A real chain of bad luck.
Vermeiji admitted on social media:
The car’s AI was based on my code.
Hopefully GTA VI will be less prone to errors and allow future speedrunners to excel in this premier game. As a reminder, GTA VI is planned for 2025.
