Creative Assembly is pursuing an ambitious goal with Total War: Warhammer 3: to merge three Total War games into one. The two predecessors were already connected to Mortal Empires, but as the finale of the trilogy, it should now become a great work of art.
Now the developers gave up in a blog entry known what you guys in free DLC Immortal Empires exactly expected and why it first appears as a beta version. They also specified the release date August 2022. The trailer that appeared shortly before spoke of the third quarter:

Total War: Warhammer 3 – Immortal Empires is revealed in a new trailer and beta date
That’s in the Mega DLC
New sea routes
Immortal Empires connects the three campaigns together and lets you use new sea routes travel to the most distant corners. The scale of the campaign map and playable Legendary Lords surpasses anything the Total War series has seen before.
New starting locations
In addition to 29 new starting locations for the leaders of past series parts, the former antagonist Be’Lakor and some of the older Legendary Lords such as Grombrindal, Helman Ghorst and Volkmar the Grim each get their own faction. With this, the selection of available leaders becomes unbelievable 86 Legendary Lords
New technic
The expansion dynamically combines all the content that is in your Warhammer library into one overall game under the technical framework of the third part. Legacy battle maps have been reworked, as have the UI, character models, effects, sound, and overall balance of the legacy parts to make it all feel like one piece. Also, the retreaded corruption mechanic of the chaos fractions of the third part transferred to the old peoples and further optimized.

So that in multiplayer co-op you don’t have to pay meticulous attention to the same selection of DLCs among the participants, only the host’s catalog counts. Accordingly, you can also participate in an Immortal Empires campaign if you only own the third part – but then you are also limited to its commanders and factions.
Better victory conditions
Die victory conditions have been fundamentally streamlined and are intended to offer greater incentives to fulfill them in the future. The studio provided an example of exactly what that means on Reddit. For example, the vampire lords received about a 30% discount off the cost of Winds of Magic if they fulfilled the appropriate vampire victory binds.
At the dynamic Endgame-Events comparison to the 4X strategy game inevitably comes to mind Stellaris on. In order to continue to challenge overpowered player factions in the middle and end of a campaign, unexpected threats now appear. Examples were invading greenskins or the sudden resurrection of numerous undead.
We recently summarized that Warhammer 3 urgently needs such a fresh cell cure for long-term motivation in order to stop the progressive player exodus in a video and in a warning article:

It urgently needs a new campaign or it will run into problems
Why is Immortal Empires in beta?
The developers explain the decision to initially designate the extension as a beta by saying that this is not a simple porting of older content. There are so many adjustments to be made at the same time that technical problems and balance difficulties cannot be avoided.
Although Immortal Empires contains all planned content for its initial release in August, one is aware that this project will still have to be maintained and optimized years later. You don’t want to give the impression that this first version is already the final and polished version and only want to remove the beta add-on when the implementation of the vision has largely been successful.
Nonetheless, players are assured that they can have a lot of fun with the new sandbox campaign from day one. We have enough confidence in the expansion to automatically unlock it for all Warhammer 3 owners and not split the player base with an opt-in beta. We look forward to constructive feedback Total-War-Subreddit.
If you are wondering which parts of the country the three campaigns actually consist of, how many hours of play there are in the trilogy and whether you have to own all three parts on the same platform, we have the right answers for you:
