Splitgate: Shooter Surprise 2021 shows in the recap how great the success really was
Do you remember Splitgate? The Free2Play shooter came out of nowhere in the summer of 2021, suddenly caused a sensation and really stirred up the Steam top lists – the rush was so great that some players accepted waiting times of 90 minutes to even play!
Since then, the interest has clearly ebbed – with over 18 million downloads Since the Early Access launch in 2019, Splitgate has definitely been one of the biggest surprise hits of recent years. Now the developers of 1047 Games have their say. And have good and bad news:

The next project
The Splitgate makers announce a new shooter that sees itself as a kind of successor and is apparently supposed to take some of the best Splitgate features to a new level.
For the new AAA project, you don’t just want small ones, but revolutionary changes make, according to the studio. They will make a game that the fans deserve and not just keep tinkering with something that already exists.
The title will again be a Free2Play shooter, picking up on the establ ished portal mechanics and this time relying on Unreal Engine 5. Splitgate was praised above all for the enormous potential of the portals, which turn the actually simple arena fights into tactical “mind games”. transformed.
On the other hand, the somewhat old-fashioned graphic style and the small amount of content at the start were criticized. Details or a release date for the Splitgate sequel are not yet known, and the name remains secret for the time being.
A high price
The other side of the coin: The Work on Splitgate is completed, to be able to throw all resources on the new project. New features or content will therefore no longer appear, but the servers should continue to run and not be switched off, assures 1047 Games.
