In 2025, The Division will be nine years old and The Division 2 will be six years old. It's no small feat. It's hard to believe that this franchise is still standing after all the cancellations and layoffs we've seen in recent years, especially when it comes to Ubisoft. Without going any further, XDefiant has two news programs left and The Division: Heartland will never see the light of the sun. And they are only two examples.
It is more incredible knowing everything that has happened in The Division 2 over the last few years, from unfulfilled promises to stages in which content has literally been repeated and recycled with little or no news. Despite everything, The Division 3 is on the way and we have reason to be excited in 2025. We are back where it all began… literally.
Back to the place where we were born in The Division
Our adventure in The Division It started in New York. While Manhattan occupies the memories of most players, we really emerge as SHD Agents in the Brooklyn district, home of Miles Morales' incredible Spider-Man. That was where thousands of players took their first steps before setting out to recover the Big Apple. And the sad thing is that there was no way to return.
There were many rumors that speculated about a map expansion in The Division or a return in The Division 2. And they were right: we returned to Manhattan in Warlords of New York… but it was only a small part of New York. The northern half of the island (from Central Park) and other nearby areas such as Brooklyn, Queens and Jersey have only been part of rumors and speculation… until now.
Year 6 will culminate with new story DLC that takes players back to where it all began: Brooklyn, New York. – Official blog of The Division 2
If you liked it The Division 2It's not a bad time to return. There is plenty of content for both returning and new players, especially the latter. And even more so if you purchase the Warlords of New York DLC. There is also enough time to set the day before the launch of the new story DLC, which will return us to Brooklyn, an almost unexplored area that we have not set foot in for almost ten years.
But as in other long-lasting games like World of Warcraft y Destiny 2returning or starting to play after six years implies two important questions: where to start? And what route to follow to catch up? The good thing is that the case of The Division 2 is much simpler than the two examples mentioned. Below you have a summary of everything you need to know so as not to get lost and/or follow the path that the rest of us veterans have taken.
The Division 2: from the beginning to the present
I recommend that you purchase The Division 2 + Warlords of New York to have the full experience. Or update your current version with the DLC. It is important because everything that has happened in recent years and current events have their trigger during the events in New York. In the end, everything ends up in the same place in this universe. That being said, here is the order you should follow:
- History of The Division 2 in Washington DC This covers the main missions, secondary missions, Confidentials, the projects of each zone and finally the three fortresses belonging to each faction: Hyenas, Outcasts and True Children. Ignore the game's insistent warnings to go to New York.
- Level 30. At this point a whole range opens up, from missions around the map to game modes such as Descent, The Summit, raids and expeditions such as the university and the nuclear power plant. I recommend that you leave all this for later. Also the Seasons (activate them to complete challenges) and the Specializations, choose the one you like the most.
- End of main story and Invasion of the Black Fangs. The fourth faction of the game enters the scene. You must liberate Washington DC from this paramilitary group by repeating the previous three strongholds (invaded) and defeating them in their own stronghold, the Tidal Basin. The invasion resets every week, but you only need to do it once to increase your World Level. If you are having a hard time advancing at this point, I recommend doing Rewards to get equipment and experience very quickly.
When you control the Black Fangs you will have Washington DC secured, so now it's time to expand to other locations. To continue the story you must do the missions that surround the map. The order you must follow is the following:
- Campamento White Oak. Important for history.
- Manning National Zoo. Very entertaining, although a little long.
- The pentagon. For me, the most interesting off-map missions.
- Coney Island. Prequel to what will happen in Warlords of New York.
- Kenley University. You can do this expedition at any time during this phase.
- (Optional) hidden hunters. A series of special enemies that are revealed by solving secret puzzles.
You already have all the ground prepared for the best moment of The Division 2: the Warlords of New York DLC. Go to the White House helicopter. A lot of things change during this DLC, so don't worry. Advance through the story and complete each area of the new map. When you're done, you'll have completed the first Hunt of the game. The next step is to do all the hunts:
- Jupiter
- Avispon
- Bardon Shaeffer
- Faye Lau
- Captain Lewis
- General Anderson
- Restriction
- Mari Singh
- The Recruiter
- Agent Kelso
- Aaron Keener
Each hunt consists of five targets that you must kill or rescue after meeting a series of requirements. It's a lot, but it seems more than it is. When you finish Aaron Keener's hunt, you will reach the current hunt: Red Shadows, which is part of the Hunts 2.0 system. We now pursue a single target and complete three puzzle missions a week for a total of 16.
The story of The Division 2 It fades a bit from the DLC onwards because it is told through audio during the hunt. He serves everyone very well, especially the hunts of Faye Lau, The Recruiter, Agent Kelso and even more so Aaron Keener. All of this, along with Red Shadows, lays the foundation for what is going to happen in the Brooklyn DLC.
There isn't too much information about the 2025 DLC and I don't want to go into details to avoid spoilers, but suffice it to say that the line between SHD Agents and Forsaken has never been as blurred as it is now. The Hunters have gained a lot of influence and power in the history of The Division and, like everything, they have revealed themselves to be something very different than what they seemed to be. Now everything revolves around these three factions, leaving the Black Fangs in the background and the rest of Washington and New York in the third plane.
As I said, the beginning of 2025 is a good time to return or start The Division 2. You see a lot of activity and future plans for the franchise again, so much so that several interviews have dropped that there will be Year 7. And it makes sense , since it is expected that the plot of The Division 3 connect with everything that has happened so far. In any case, I hope all this helps you.
