It’s hard to think about the monumental blow that has occurred Rocksteady Studios in 2024. How is it possible that the creators of the Batman Arkham trilogy ended up making something like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League? It is a contrast as brutal as seeing CD Projekt Red launch Cyberpunk 2077 after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt… although it must be admitted that the latter made merit.
Rocksteady Studios has an indelible stain with Suicide Squad, although this does not detract from all its good work with Batman Arkham Asylum
In Asylum they scared us by making us believe that our screen, console or PC had been broken by a trick of the Scarecrow. They made it a custom in City, where we can let Batman die and walk away like Catwoman with two briefcases full of money. The credits appear and Oracle’s voice sounds:
Can anyone hear me? My name is Barbara Gordon. They are attacking us. The Joker’s forces are too many. my father has died [Comisario Gordon]. Well, they’re all dead. God, we’re going to lose! Wayne Manor has been invaded. The Joker has won. It’s incredible that he says this, but he has won and we can’t do anything. Bruce is dead. They have all disappeared. If anyone hears this, please send help.
And although it is not an alternative ending (because it is not final), many players of dubious morality really thought that the game was over, they fell into the developers’ trap when they saw the credits. However, these are cut after a minute and the camera rewinds to the moment before the election… but it is no longer an election. Of course, what has not yet disappeared is his betrayal of Batman.
