Marvel’s Spiderman is finally coming to PC. And it looks like the remaster could be a huge success, as it’s been doing enviably well with the international trade press so far. At Metacritic, the game hits a Average of 88 points. The PC version has even overtaken the original from 2018, back then reached 87 points.
In this article you can find out which publication is rated how and what is particularly praised and criticized. If you are more interested in our own assessment, you can of course read here what tester Vali thinks about the game:

Marvel’s Spider-Man in the PC test: The best superhero game since Batman
What is praised, what is criticized?
Of course, mere numbers alone say little, so we want to briefly summarize which strengths and weaknesses the testers noticed in particular.
Strengthen
Impressive New York: The successful and lively presentation of the open world and its characters, which thanks to renewed graphics and additional effects still look really good in 2022, is mentioned again and again. For example, our own tester, Vali, notes:
Insomniac has created an extremely faithful and vibrant New York with references to the real world and the Marvel Universe at every turn.
Also runs on older systems: Although Spiderman requires a lot of performance on the highest settings, it is noted that the numerous graphics options allow the game to be played on older systems as well. That’s what makes it loud Cody Medellin von WorthPlaying the game great:
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered remains an excellent superhero adventure, but it’s going to be its best yet on PC. This is mainly thanks to the many different graphics options.
You become Spiderman: It is also praised that the players can put themselves in the role of Peter Parker and feel connected to the characters. So writes about Kosta Andreadis from AusGamers:
The best thing about this experience is how you connect to the story and become Spiderman.

weaknesses
Generic Open World Tasks: While New York looks great and feels alive, there is some criticism that the side quests lack variety over time. Rick Lane von PC Gamer writes:
It quickly becomes apparent that Insomniac didn’t know how to fill the open world. Many of the side quests turn into simple symbol hunts: collect backpacks, hunt pigeons, play hide and seek.
Minor technical issues: There were sometimes problems with bugs or performance in the test versions. However, since many of them appear to have already been fixed, testers such as Comicbook’s Tanner Dedmon see little cause for concern here:
Spider-Man shouldn’t have many problems. Even if the remaster fell victim to one or the other crash and some features were bugged, these were largely eliminated by pre-release updates.
We also subjected the game to an extensive technical check, you can see the results here:
