Arnold Schwarzenegger, Donald Glover and Amber Midthunder have already taken on the Predator and are unmistakably considered the heroes of their own films. The sci-fi monster returns in 2025 – but turns this concept on its head.
This is what Dan Trachtenberg, the director of Prey himself, promises two new Predator films for 2025 staged. One of them listens to the subtitle Badlands
and sends Elle Fanning into the race against the Yautja.

But we should not necessarily root for Fanning, but instead root for the Predator – like Trachtenberg opposite Empire explained:
The creature is at the center and at the forefront. He’s still a badass, but there’s also an element that touches you on an emotional level. It was a big challenge to create a character that you felt connected to, but at the same time scared the crap out of you. That was a lot of fun!
Elle Fanning is set to take on not just one, but several roles in Predator: Badlands. What exactly that means for the final film remains to be seen, however. Trachtenberg simply reveals:
She was challenged really intensively on several levels – dramaturgically, physically, logistically.

In 2025 we will get two Predator films
Predator: Badlands opens in theaters on November 6, 2025. Before that, there will be another film about the Yautja – most likely as an animated project for the streaming service Disney Plus.

By the way, not only Predator fans but also Alien fans will get their money’s worth in the foreseeable future: After Romulus, the TV series Alien: Earth by Noah Hawley will start in 2025. Meanwhile, Fede Alvarez and Ridley Scott are working on their own new films about the xenomorph.
And who knows, maybe at some point it will be Alien vs. Predator again?
