Steam
6 games you probably missed last week
Highlight of the week: The STALKER series
Genre: Ego-Shooter | Developer: GSC Game World | Release: March 20, 2007 – February 12, 2010 | Price: 7 dollars (reduced by 80 percent) | Offer valid until: 11. April 2022
Admittedly, this week it was really difficult to single out a highlight among the many top-class offers. But getting all the games in the Stalker series for so cheap is definitely a good opportunity. You have to pay almost 7 dollars for all three atmospheric first-person shooters.
The games are based on the book Picnic along the way
by Arkadi and Boris Strugatsky and open an alternative timeline in which after the nuclear meltdown at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant a zone full of valuable artifacts but also dangerous anomalies and mutants emerged.
In all three games you have to survive the dangers of the zone, collect artifacts and fight human opponents and monsters. The Stalker games are particularly characterized by their dense and oppressive atmosphere, which can still keep up well despite the outdated graphics:
It doesn’t matter whether you’re sitting around the campfire with other treasure hunters and someone is strumming a guitar, you’re escaping an anomaly storm in a shabby shack, or you’re exploring abandoned buildings. With the comparatively simple means of the late 2000s, Stalker has created a unique world that cannot be found in other games.
In the comparison video you can see the old Stalker games next to the Stalker 2 in development:

More exciting offers on Steam
In addition to Stalker, there are many other games on offer, and we have listed some of the best for you here. If you miss a game, please let us know in the comments.
- Metro Exodus: The third and probably the best part of the post-apocalyptic shooter series so far. For the first time we leave the Metro tunnels permanently and embark on a journey through post-apocalyptic Russia, exploring freely accessible areas and fighting against mutated monsters and bandits. (Until April 7, 7:00 p.m. reduced by 60 percent to 12 dollars)
- Hunt: Showdown: An excellent multiplayer shooter from Crytek, in which you first go hunting for scary monsters in a team and then defend your loot against other players. (Reduced by 55 percent to 18 dollars until April 7, 7:00 p.m.)
Hunt Showdown im Test-Update
The multiplayer shooter is a masterpiece in 2021
- Helldivers: Also a multiplayer shooter, which relies purely on co-op and a top-down perspective. As a last line of defense, up to four players face the attacks of hostile aliens. A lot of teamwork and tactics are required here (reduced by 75 percent to 5 dollars until April 17)
- Days Gone: Joins the trend of this midweek madness as a shooter with an apocalyptic scenario. As a former biker, you explore an open world and have to beware of huge zombie hordes à la World War Z. The mood of the game is supposed to be more like The Last of Us orientate. (Reduced by 50 percent to 25 dollars until April 17)
- Horizon: Zero Dawn: Here, too, we explore a post-apocalyptic world in which the old civilization has long been forgotten. While humans live largely without modern technology, dangerous animal-like machines roam the world. We play Aloy, who has to unravel the mysteries of her identity, and of course dismantle a few machines in the process. (Reduced by 50 percent to 25 dollars until April 17)
Horizon Zero Dawn im Test
An open-world masterpiece on PC too
- Hell Let Loose: This multiplayer shooter is based on a world war scenario, big battles with up to 100 players and vehicles, as well as a good portion of realism and strategy. You don’t just have to fight, you also have to secure your supply routes at all times. (Reduced by 33 percent to 27 dollars until April 11)
- 7 Days to Die: But that is the final end-time scenario for today! In 7 Days you have to survive alone or with friends in an abandoned world overrun by zombies. To do this, you collect resources and weapons, build a stable base and fend off deadly zombie hordes every 7 nights. The game has been in Early Access for ages, but it’s still fun. (Reduced by 70 percent to 7 dollars until April 11)
- Planet Crafter: A brand new survival game in Early Access that’s going down really well on Steam. You terraform entire planets, turning dusty deserts into flourishing landscapes. Of course, this requires a lot of collecting, crafting and building. (Reduced by 10 percent to 16 dollars until April 7, 7:00 p.m.)
- The Outer Worlds: Even more space, but in the form of an RPG developed by the creators of Fallout: New Vegas. The game also relies on dialogue options, black humor, different factions and a freely explorable world. If you want to know if this is something for you, then watch our video.
