The trilogy of films The Lord of the Rings is one of the most essential for all those who love fantasy feature films. It has been 23 years since the first of them was released in all cinemas, in which we could see Frodo, Aragorn, Legolas and many other characters embark on an unforgettable journey in order to destroy the One Ring once and for all.
A good part of the sequences that were shot were in real locations instead of using a studio for it. This has its costs because you have to move the whole team to the area where the recording is going to take place, which in this case was in some mountains in New Zealand, so that meant that you had to take helicopter trips
It was not a problem for anyone, except for one of the actors. Sean Bean, who played Boromir, I was terribly afraid of getting into this type of vehicle.so he refused outright, so the alternative they offered him was that he would then have to get to the area on his own. It seems that this option seemed much better to him, so he accepted the proposal.
The hilarious thing about this situation is that You could say he really became Boromir.because he had to kick himself and climb the mountain on his own in the suit he used in the film. This is how Peter Jackson narrated this comic anecdote in the extended edition of The Lord of the Rings
Our day started with everyone flying up in the helicopters and as we were flying up, around 7:30 in the morning, you’d look down and you’d see this little black speck climbing up the cliff and it was Sean dressed as Boromir, like he was a human fly climbing up the side of the mountain by himself to get to the filming area because he didn’t want to go by helicopter and it took him about two hours to climb all the way up.
In fact, Sean Bean himself admitted that he was sweating non-stop, although It was like living a real adventure and he does not regret anything because he preferred this other method in which he had to go out at night on his own in order to arrive on time and meet up with all his colleagues on time. At least it is undeniable that it helped him to get more fully into his role.
