MachineGames finally showed Indiana Jones and the Circle During the Xbox developer direct meeting, the game’s depiction of Indy was exactly the same as Harrison Ford in his prime.
In the game, you play as Indiana Jones, embarking on an adventure across the globe at the height of the archaeologist’s career.
Announced in 2021, the action-adventure film takes place in 1937, about a year after the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark. While teaching at Marshall College, Indy woke up from a car accident one night to find a man stealing and taking off with an artifact. While tracking the thief, Indy realizes that sinister forces are scouring the globe for the secrets of ancient powers connected to the Great Circle—a circular ley line containing sites of spiritual significance scattered around the world.
The game lets you explore and experience things in Indy through first-person gameplay, but switches to a third-person perspective during cutscenes and time travel. Your trip will not only take you across the continent, but you’ll also visit the Egyptian pyramids, visit the ruins of Thailand’s Sukhothai temples, and explore the Himalayas.

In this globe-trotting, narrative-driven action game, you’ll discover a cinematic story set on an open-area map filled with things to explore. When encountering enemies, your whip acts like a trusty companion that can be used to distract, disarm, attack, and traverse the environment. You can also use stealth to sneak up on enemies, infiltrate areas, and eavesdrop on gossip. Another option when dealing with enemies is first-person melee with good old-fashioned boxing, or you can always take matters into your own hands with a gunfight. There will also be some puzzles to solve.
While Harrison Ford’s likeness graces the game, the voice you hear in the trailer isn’t that of the actor, but that of Troy Baker, a prolific voice actor who, dare we say, Ford made such a great impression, he almost fooled us.
The game also stars film, television and voice actor Marios Gavrilis as the main antagonist Emmerich Voss, as well as Italian actress Alessandra Mar Alessandra Mastronardi voices journalist Gina Lombardi. Gordy Haab replaced John Williams as score composer, and various stuntmen also lent their talents to motion capture for the game’s various action sequences (thanks to Entertainment Weekly).
As you’ll see in the trailer, another familiar face is the late Denholm Elliott, a well-known film and stage actor who starred in Taken “The Last Crusade” and “The Last Crusade” as Dr. Marcus Brody, a museum curator and Indy’s friend.
“MachineGames has a lot of Raiders of the Lost Ark fans,” said game director Jerk Gustafsson. “Most of us grew up with Indy and fell in love with the movie and the character as kids. Our connection to the character goes back decades.
“But even if you didn’t grow up with Indiana Jones, you knew Indiana Jones. He was a relatable hero and a true adventurer. That’s a legacy we want to share and be a part of , we wanted to create something fun and authentic.”
Conceived and executive produced by Bethesda’s Todd Howard, Indiana Jones and the Circle will release in late 2024 on Game Pass, PC, and Xbox One Series X/S. Be sure to check out the screenshots posted below, and if you missed the developer reveal from MachineGames, you can watch it here .
