We learned about modern Wolfenstein developers last year machine game is developing a Indiana Jones IP. Although this project was created by Bethesda in Teaser video on Twitter Back in 2021, we didn’t know much about the game.
The game has been considered an Xbox exclusive since its release; so why not? Bethesda and Microsoft are now a happy family (citation needed), with Xbox stating that “future Bethesda games will be exclusive to the Game Pass platform”.
However, on the Xbox Two Podcast, Windows Central’s Jez Corden pointed out that the game won’t be exclusive to Xbox. When asked by co-host Rand al Thor if the game was “exclusive” [to Xbox]”, Corden simply answered “no”.
Corden has previously proven that he has inside sources, so this claim may have some credibility. He also offered a warning, saying he had heard the information “a long time ago” and “maybe something has changed…”.
How likely are Bethesda’s big games on platforms other than Xbox? The jury is still out on whether the development of the Indiana Jones game and its eventual release was a distribution deal signed before Microsoft’s $7.5 billion acquisition of Bethesda. With Sony getting all the adventure fun in Uncharted, you’d think Xbox would want its own iconic explorer, right?
So what do you actually expect from the game when it finally launches on whatever platform it launches? Well, so far, all we know is that MachineGames said:
“As huge fans of the series, we are very honored to be able to create a brand new Indiana Jones game with a completely original story. We are very excited and can’t wait to share more in the future.”
We know that Todd Howard is the executive producer of the title, but there isn’t much else known about the project beyond that. Don’t expect news of all this anytime soon, either. The developer said last year that it “will be some time” before any further news about the game is available.
