Inside: Start date

“Inside” will premiere in February 2023 during the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival. The film will be released in German cinemas nationwide on March 16th. A day later, the psychological thriller will be released in the USA.

Inside: action

Nemo is a crafty art thief who is already preparing for his next heist. With the help of a helicopter he breaks into the New York penthouse from which he intends to steal five paintings by Egon Schiele. However, when it can’t find a certain portrait and suddenly the high-end security system kicks in, Nemo is unceremoniously stuck in the penthouse.

Surrounded by nothing but expensive works of art, Nemo must find a way out. However, the damaged security system makes survival hell for him and so the art thief is trapped. The only contact with the outside world is via the monitors of the surveillance cameras.

Inside: cast

American actor Willem Dafoe (“Spider-Man: No Way Home”) will play the main role of the wily art thief Nemo. Next to him is Gene Bervoets, the owner of the New York penthouse, in front of the camera.

As this is a one-man show film, there will only be a small number of actors and actresses.

Inside: Production

The psychological thriller is a European co-production between Greece, Germany and Belgium, as well as being the feature film debut of Greek director Vasilis Katsoupis. The screenplay is by British Ben Hopkins. The film was produced by the producers Marcos Kantis, Giorgos Karnavas, Konstantinos Kontovrakis and Dries Phlypo, among others.

The Netzwelt forecast for “Inside”

“Inside” is a new psychological thriller in the style of a one-man show movie. In the past, some films of this kind were already convincing because they force the audience to think and put them in an awkward position. Despite this, such a get-up calls for a high level of performance, which can be a real challenge for some actors or actresses. With Willem Dafoe in the leading role, however, the film has a good chance of becoming a new blockbuster.
