A veteran artist from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) joins Insomniac Games to work on Spider-Man 2. He has several games (Halo Infinite, Mortal Kombat 10) and movies (Doctor Strange…).
An MCU artist for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Davison Carvalho, Concept Artist Freelance, is the artistic director of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Information went unnoticed (excavated by VGC), although he has held this position since last February. A solid recruitment given that he’s notably starred in MCU films such as Doctor Strange, Captain America: Civil War, Captain Marvel or even Thor: Ragnarok. And outside of that? He also has expertise in video games.
He helped develop Halo Infinite, Lone Echo, Mortal Kombat X and the Amazon Games New World games, as well as the now-defunct TPS Crucible. Davison Carvalho has posted some of his work on his Twitter account but the rest is available on his profile art station.
As stated by our colleagues Grant Hollis and Gavin Goulden, the artistic directors for Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales are at Marvel’s Wolverine.
The same recipe but “better”
What to expect for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? A darker game, a sequel in the continuity of previous adventures, but “better” according to Bill Rosemann, Vice President of Marvel Games.
There are multiple villains. The story told through Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales continues. I don’t want to give too much away, but this is the next big chapter. There are many themes, characters that were in the first two games that you will find here.
Bill Roseman, Vice President at Marvel Games.
The novelties will feature Venom, played by Tony Todd (Candyman from 1992). And who knows, maybe a cooperative mode?
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available as a PS5 exclusive in 2023.
