Developer confirms development
In the past, Instagram often copied popular Messenger features related to images. SMS functionality can now be added to the service-this is indicated by the source text of the Android application.
Snapchat owns it, and WhatsApp is now testing it, no matter what, or telegram. We are talking about disappearing or self-destructing messages. As developer Jane Manchun Wong discovered, Instagram can now have such a feature as well. The feature is already available in the source text of the Android app, but has not yet been released to the public.
If you send text messages this way via Instagram's direct messaging feature, they may disappear after a while or when both people close the app. Huang Mengchun demonstrates this in the video below. So far, similar operations only work for videos and pictures. Therefore, normal text messages will appear soon.
Instagram itself confirmed The model already exists. However, the company also noted that the feature is currently only tested internally and is not available to the public. There are no upcoming plans. So if new features should appear here, we have to wait for a while.
