WhatsApp fails the Stiftung Warentest test. Consumer advocates recommend another messenger instead. WhatsApp can only convince in one category.
- Stiftung Warentest tested WhatsApp and other messengers.
- Signal emerged as the winner.
- However, WhatsApp is convincing when it comes to making calls with poor reception.
Stiftung Warentest tested 16 messengers. Industry leader WhatsApp cannot secure the test win here. Only when it comes to phoning with poor reception do consumer advocates see the messenger in front.
Instead of WhatsApp, Stiftung Warentest sees Signal ahead. Like almost all candidates, however, this one has weaknesses in the data protection declaration. Which is why Signal does not get more than the overall grade Good (2.3). According to the foundation, only Wire can shine when it comes to “privacy policy”.
