Long without competition, the Sims license will soon falter. His fiercest rival finally announces his news, and it’s very good.
The Sims license was able to sleep peacefully for two decades. Maxis and EA have developed such a strong concept that few publishers have tried to follow in their footsteps. The few unfortunate people who tried it encountered difficulties, such as Paradox’s Life by You, which was eventually canceled even before its Early Access release. But times are changing and The Sims 4 will soon face competition that promises to be very tough. Civilization alumni founded a studio to dabble in the genre, while the promising Paralives continues to enchant the community with each of its presentations. The toughest competitor, however, is called inZOI.
A Korean title that opts for more realistic graphics and an approach that attracts the attention of Sims 4 fans. This serious competitor has rightly been drawing attention all year long with a demo of its character creator. Since then, communication has become much more timid, but there is good news on the horizon.
Inzois Early Access for this year?
Since there is more to life than PUBG, Krafton wants to plant its seeds in more genres. The Korean publisher could certainly pull off a masterpiece with inZOI, its life simulation that aims to follow in the footsteps of The Sims 4. Far from the cartoonish side of its competitor, the game aims to succeed where Maxis failed its community. This is an open world with customizable neighborhoods, a feature that was sorely missing from the last installment of the franchise, the origin of the life simulation. inZOI particularly highlighted its strengths during Gamescom 2024, but has been so discreet since launching its Early Access at the end of the year that it has been seriously questioned. In the PCGamer columns, a Krafton spokesperson came to reassure those who want to be unfaithful to the Sims.
Yes, Inzoi Early Access is still scheduled for 2024 and the latest news is that it will be free. However, the full version won’t pay off until it’s actually released. This large-scale testing phase will allow the Koreans to collect feedback from the community, which is particularly active on their Discord and is already creating their own small wish lists. More than its beautiful plastic or its originality like driving a car, InZoi must above all satisfy the heart of its gameplay: the life simulation. Some Sims 4 players had cooled down on this point after demos broadcast by various content creators. This early access phase provides an opportunity to test the concept and refine it based on feedback.
