iOS 14.5 should appear today: These innovations should be included

When introducing the AirTags, the iPhone in a new color and the new iMac has the US company Apple announced that iOS 14.5 will be released later this week. However, Apple did not give an exact date.

Like the US newspaper New York Times now reported, iOS and iPadOS 14.5 still today, April 26th. IOS 14.5 will probably be available for download from around 7 p.m. German time.

Fitness + on the TV

With iOS 14.5 you should be able to stream your workout from Fitness + to devices that support AirPlay 2. You can also couple the controllers of the new Xbox Series X and PS5 consoles with the iPhone. You may also be able to use the gamepads for games on the Apple TV with tvOS 14.5. Unfortunately it is Fitness + not yet in Germany available.

If you ask Siri to play music, the digital assistant should ask you for the desired app. You cannot set a standard music application such as Apple Music or Spotify, but over time the voice assistant knows which program should be used for which type of music.

Apple Card Family

With iOS 14.5, the main owner of the Apple Card should invite family members to use the Apple Card account as well. You can set a limit per member. It is still unclear whether and when the Apple Card will appear in Germany.

With “Hey Siri, call the emergency call” you can make an emergency call using a voice command. With iOS 14.5, apps have to ask for your permission if the application wants to track you via other websites or programs.

Redesigned podcasts app

Apple has revised the podcasts app with iOS 14.5. The “Play” button is replaced by the “Smart” button. The new look should make it easier to find, listen to and follow new episodes.

Not only the podcast app, but also the “Reminders” application has received an adaptation. You can sort the reminders by due date, creation date, priority or title. Furthermore, you can now print your list.

Apple has also screwed on the news app. There is a new search tab in the application. With the “For you” feature you can easily find the right content for you.

Mute emergency notifications

In iOS 14.5 you can mute emergency notifications when you put your phone in silent mode. Warnings of earthquakes, tsunamis or the like continue to trigger an alarm on the iPhone.

With iPadOS 14.5, Scribble now supports more languages. You can, for example, in German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese in the address line of the browser on Tablet “scribble” to go to a web page.

As soon as a website tries to “steal” user data, you will be warned by Safari. Apple has added a new feature in iPadOS 14.5 so that apps cannot access the tablet’s microphone when it is not in use. As soon as the Smart Folio Cover is closed, the tablet’s microphone is muted.

Automatic installation of updates

With iOS and iPadOS 14.5 you should be able to choose which type of update you want to install automatically.

Smartphones of the previous versions can recalibrate the maximum capacity of the battery with the new operating system. Siri receives two new voices with iOS 14.5, but only in English.

iOS 14.5 should be available for all smartphones from iPhone SE and newer, iPadOS 14.5 for all tablets from iPad Air 2 and newer.
